Former #39 Patrick Voss - false messiah

Dropped the next week

I personally hate entertaining and/or aggressive players. Voss, Package and soon Draper gone for very little in return is awesome.

….. And proceeded to hang the least experienced defense out to dry despite clearly being the best defender with ball in hand. A couple of the goals mass conceded to higgens in the last came directly from terrible turnovers by senior players. So ask yourself what was really the cause of the goals.

Fark I’m getting angry about this all over again (not for the first time)

To be honest I think more people hold the night, or the aftermath, against Scott than they do mass

ā– ā– ā– ā–  me, you cant make up people thinking the coach does the contracts

I hear ya. We’re way too nice.

It needs to change. *Probably won’t

The coach clearly has the majority say on who is kept in the list and who isn’t

If he wants someone on the list badly enough, they get a longer contract. See jones getting a two year deal

if he doesn’t want someone on the list, the club will do what they can to get rid of them

You think the list manager just signs guys without first talking to the coach and finding out what he wants?

For all we know…. Vossy made himself persona non grata with the afl incumbent playing group and coaches.

Do we know whether he was significantly missed from within after he was delisted … or was it Asta la vista baby?

He may have been a square peg in a round hole, and without the change in environment incapable of reinventing himself.

if he shat the bed, it is sometimes impossible to escape yourself unless you can wipe the slate clean.

They also got Pittard the same year …

Nice strawmen.

  • GWS wanted Caldwell to stay, and had played him when not injured.
  • Durham improved between 2020 (when there was no U18 footy) across 2021 and we snagged him in the MSD. Richmond would have hardly seen him when making 2020 SSP offers.
  • McMahon has a long way to go to prove Collingwood wrong. Hopefully he does.

Scott never singled out D’Ambrosio after the game. A journalist asked a question made a statement about how well D’Ambrosio played in that game. Scott replied that he will need to rewatch the game. On that night, D’Ambrosio could not defend to save his life, so it wa strange for a journalist to ask that question.

27 touches, 450m gained, 4 score involvements, only 3 turnovers playing his 10th game. Hardly a strange question

Rubbish. He would have started shirking contests like the rest of them.

All this Massimo talk is triggering you a little, isn’t it?

What are the stats for failing to defend properly? How many goals did his opponent kick? Pretty sure he had more score involvements for the bulldogs than he did for us. I can see you are obviously a big disposal stat means good game type of guy

Yeah, he lost a bunch of deep isolation one v ones vs more mature opponents. Those 1v1s came about because of bad skill errors from senior players up the ground.

Frankly you’d expect a 19 year to lose a few one on ones to more mature opponents no?

Well he was a young player that most watching thought had a good game, brad did mental gymnastics to avoid complimenting him and basically pinned the blame on his defending by diverting the praise to ā€˜we conceded a lot of goals’. Not a big deal but when you know brad and his pressers, he gloats about his favourites like Perkins even if they have been absolute rubbish for a long period of time and avoids answering any praise for his guys on the outer. He couldn’t give one positive word for a kid in his first few games that had a lot of the ball and sizzled some beautiful kicks to set up goals? I knew then and there d’ambrosio was on the outer and not one of his boys.

The interesting thing is that week they showed the behind goals footage of the couple of goals d’ambrosio got the blame for and it was hinds fault, he didn’t acknowledge the handover given to him and ran off in the other direction leaving d’ambrosio’s player loose. I clearly remember this, coz it’s been a talking point on here for years now.

From just my point of view I’m not getting angry or disappointed with the young players now because we are at a different stage as a club and realistically I know that most of these young kids aren’t being selected on merit but because of necessity.

Rewind to that point in time I had higher expectations of the team as a whole and I simply didn’t like how easily Mass was worked over. Mitchell backed Mass in and he’s done well, great for them both but I still think if Mass played for us he would be very polarising on Blitz with some loving his outside skill and others tearing there hair out with his softness.

Every team must have someone discarded or not promoted from other lists that provide good value. We have Durham, Martin, Mcmahon for example. I mean it’s a shame we have let a couple go that could have been good foot soldiers but truth is they are replaceable and have been.
