Both those situations were created by the coaches not playing them. Knights never played Houli, it was so frustrating. B.Scott hardly played Mass, his ticket was stamped when he lost 1-1 contests with the saints smalls early last year. They exposed his physical deficiencies and scored. Hawks are hiding him on the wing which is smart, early on they were using him off half back. The champion data stats generally reward disposal efficiency , I wouldn’t take a lot of notice of them. Other than to say he is playing good footy and good luck to him.
Plays as a defensive wingman who isn’t that accountable but playing brilliantly in his role…Houli wasn’t a great defender until later in his career but very creative and complimented Richmond’s defence.
Saad says hello
You had a point, until you wrote this
I remember wanting him ahead of Heppell but I love Hepps this year.
Just as the GC wishes they hadn’t let go of 2MP and Richmond Duz, it happens.
I have a point with it…if he was still on our list, he would not be getting a game.
So many people here talk about how Scott never rated him…so why would it be different now?
Who does he replace in the team?
He’d be playing now for sure.
He was still selected last year roughly half the games he was available for.
Yes, yes, half of them as the SUB, but he was still being selected in the 23, so he was on the fringe.
If he was getting a game for us most likely it would be small forward I reckon. Basically it was just a good decision for him to go to Hawthorn for more opportunity.
He’s literally the highest rated winger in the game right now and having a very good season. If you think he wouldn’t be getting a game with us now, then thats just farkin stupid to be honest. But I’ll leave it there
He’s the best winger because he’s getting a game and on the wing. We’d be playing him as a forward pocket in the VFL.
Mass would not make our best 22 and he’d simply be a backup, just like he was before.
Parish, Duurs and even Hobbs would get a game ahead of him. Tsatas will pass him given abit of time. Mass’ doesn’t defend well, meaning he will have to ply his trade elsewhere. He’s not good enough to play in the middle, will be outmarked by any decent sized winger, ala Duurs and Cox who can take good contested grabs. This leaves up forward, and he doesn’t kick goals which isn’t unlike ADJ or Menzie at the moment, but doesn’t make him the future.
I like him and all the best for the future, but am not fussed he’s been moved on.
Pretty much.
Hawthorn custom made a role (or had a perfect opening) which Massimo could fill in the AFL. It was really good targeted recruiting on their end, and they are getting rewarded for it.
Essendon either don’t see value on that role, or think we have better options than Massimo to play it. Might be a mistake, might not, who knows. But I doubt Mass gets the same level of responsibility in this Essendon team.
But thems the breaks in AFL. I’m really glad Mass is going well.
Who needs mass on the wing when we can play guys like Kelly there…
SOB sign me up

I’m really glad Mass is going well.
I’m not. I hope he fails miserably, and Hawthorn are never good again.
Blitzers are the first to gloat when we pinch players like Wright, Stringer, Duursma from other clubs for a packet of chips , and flog off unwanted players like Fantasia or Daniher and get reasonable picks in return.
I sometimes look at Nicks Collingwood page, and you know they barely mention losing good players they have lost like Grundy or Treloar. They move on, unlike the sooks on here.
Question I would ask here is who would you prefer playing on our wing , Mass or Duursma? I know the answer I would give, and that’s the one that has a defensive backbone in their body.
Mass has not been chronically injured like duursma has been his whole career, plus he’s only 20, so can’t really compare yet i don’t think.
Didnt Massimo miss the last 6 or so rounds last year with injury ?

Blitzers
almost like its a collection of individuals with opinions.

almost like they’ve been in a few grandfinals since the gfc.

how certain are you that it wouldn’t be martin and duursma on a wing with HBF mass?
you’ve made just as much if not more assumptions than post people posting in this thread.

Is 6 weeks chronically injured?
Spot on.
The club seems to be much more generous to sons of champions.
Maximo was a good player, always had the talent but just didn’t get the opportunity here.
