Former #49 Jaiden Hunter

Hoping the silver lining is that it stamps Dodoro’s papers. Time to move on.

I watched Hunter play in his first VFL game with us. He seemed to move very freely as he did playing in Perth. If the injury was pre - existing it must have flared up after he came to us. This is so strange and disappointing. I thought it was a joke when I started reading about it . Maybe it is the surface when they train indoors inside the Hangar? Jones, Reid, Cox and now Hunter……….

Luckily we’ve replacing the Bomber logo with an Emergency Room Logo.

“Recurring” - something he’s been dealing with previously

Article itself says

“The injury was sustained prior to joining Essendon despite clearing independent AFL medical assessment ahead of the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.”

Risk and reward, on effectively a bonus pick mind you.

His first half of state league season was outstanding. 2nd VFL game for us also was too.

Sounds like buying a car and doing all the right things like getting a roadworthy and checking for outstanding finance, but not checking under the bonnet for oil leaks

Yet another master stroke from Dudoro.

The smoke and mirrors bullshit from the club yesterday about this is more infuriating than the injury itself.

They release an injury update article at about 7pm with zero mention of Hunter, despite him being photographed 8-9 hours earlier at the Hangar not participating in training. So there were already alarm bells.

The poor kid (who has only been part of the AFL system for a month and probably still unaware about social media protocols etc) announces it himself on his Instagram before undoubtedly being told by a club official to remove it because it contradicts their recently released article where he wasn’t mentioned at all. He obviously knew what had happened and what was wrong (which you can clearly infer the club knew as well) yet kept it out of their injury media release.

Just cut the crap and be honest with your members and supporter base when it comes to injuries. More honesty from Jaiden Hunter than anyone in charge of this stuff at the club.

Yep. I can’t help but think back to how happy he was when he took that call from Dodoro when he got drafted. He had a chance to make it in the big time and now it is in limbo. It will be a tough period for him.

He only was offered a really short contract - something like 6 months from memory so maybe we knew about this injury before we picked him up…
Likely we just pay out the contract now and move on as list spots will be at a premium in 2024

The player sets the contract length not the club

The article had probably already been written and uploaded before the person who writes them was given any information about Hunters injury…

why ask him to take down his post then?

Was he asked to take it down, or was it of his own volition after realising that his injury hadn’t been publicly announced yet?

Can’t believe Dodoro forced those people onto the submarine.

Oh just catching up with this news. Is molto crapiolo, was looking forward to seeing the big fella out there soon.

maybe he took it down because they’re not sure if the injury is actually season ending or just a month on the sidelines?

not everything has to be some massive conspiracy

The back issue was pre-existing, it is not a new injury sustained at the Hangar, and it was known before he was drafted. It looks then like he was drafted with 2024 more in mind than 2023.

We need an investigation into our submarine launching and maintenance procedures… ■■■■■■■ shambles of a club

Shattered for the big unit, he looked great witht the small sample size. Presents well at the footy, uses his body well in contests, has a great set of hands and can roost the pill a mile. Would be happy for them to keep him on. Could see him taking Stewarts spot on the list.
