Not sure why but he isn’t the player I thought he was 2 years ago, felt like he was getting 25-30 touches here and there and looking good. Or am I imagining this?

Brads live affair with Hobbs and Perkins genuinely hurts the team.
At least one of those spots should be for a genuine speedy pressure forward

I’d prefer to try El Hawli & Smartt on the HFF’s, see if we can find a semi descent small forward.

Agree thought he played well H1, I think we keep Hobbs and work with him. Not perfect but still young.

In 2023 he had a few games early 20’s and then two games over 25.
2024 he fell off a cliff
He was for a season or two. Finished in the top 10 of the B&F in 2021 I believe.

There really wasn’t much difference between them. Both slow, struggle to kick 40 and don’t bring much to the table. Their stats are also nearly identical. Not as crazy as you make it sound

Was 3rd in the BnF in 2021, did his calf early in 2022, was brought back too early (surprise surprise) and only played 8 games. Brad took over in ‘23, played 15 games and was essentially delisted to accomodate Jade Gresham.
Just for comparison sake, Snelling had 2 x top 10 Crichton finishes. Hobbs and Gresham have 0 combined.

I’d rate Gresham is a much better player than both. Although all 3 aren’t great

It staggers me that with a team that was already full of short inside mids who can’t kick well we went to the draft to take to more inside mids who can’t kick well in the first F round.

I was hoping NWM would fall to us that year, and if not take someone like a Matt Johnson who’s turned out to be a handy cog for Freo.
I didn’t hate the Hobbs pick but I was always pretty critical that he was another 180cm inside mid, of which we had about 50 of.
I do recall The Don being quite high on him that year too. Words to the effect of ‘if he’s there you sprint the card in’ which I never agreed with. The most eye opening thing for me was Rutten, who basically played the kids any chance he could, held back Hobbs for 4-6 weeks in the VFL which said to me he didn’t come to the club as advertised.
I do hope he works out but it’s a very curious list decision in hindsight.
