No different to Tsatas
A very good footballer who was came to us as a kid and was never developed under Scott. Now with McCartney and Hird he is showing what he can do.
He put up similar numbers for Essendon in the VFL all the time.
He showed similar form for us in the VFL, in fact he had far better performances for us.
Not really sure that tracks
He’s one of those players clearly too good for VFL but maybe not quite good enough for AFL. In the right AFL system he could probably be a role player, though.
It’s actually bizarre how we overrate our players.
Hobbs apparently should be on our list still and yet Henry “Steak knives” Hustwaite is a deadset spud who wouldn’t get a game for us yet this is Henry’s VFL performances this year

Exactly this. If we could give Hobbs Tsatas’s height and explosiveness (at least in draft profile) or conversely Tsatas get get Hobbs competitiveness, hardness and endurance we would have a serious player. Individually they’re both limited.
If you combined the best attributes of Hobbs and Tstatas, you’d still have a midfielder who can’t run or kick at AFL standard.
And if you combined the best attributes of parish and Caldwell you would have a player that can’t kick but has an amazing tan
All it tells me is that for some reason we don’t rate clearances.
Tsatas and Hobbs are/were limited players, but goddamn they have one aspect of the game down at an elite level.
We either can’t or don’t want to develop that.
I’m gonna go ahead and say that’s part of the reason we’re 18th.
You need to be able to do more than that
Hobbs was slow and got caught holding the ball all the time whenever he was in the centre.
Also, stats don’t tell the whole story. You can get a lot of possessions and have no impact on a game

Not convinced he’s AFL standard, but can acknowledge we didn’t exactly set him up for success by drafting a midget pure inside mid and then playing him the majority of the time as a half forward.
if you combined Perkins and Guelfi, you’d have one extremely attractive player.
