If Goddard is not there to play loose man, then there’s absolutely no need to consider anyone else. It’s a terrible tactic.

All he would do is stunt their development. Let ridley and redman battle it out for his spot
If essendon weren’t prepared to keep kelly goddard is no chance.
Kelly should have gone again and goddard pulled the pin.
It’s horrible to watch because he has been brilliant for this club but next year would be embarressing for everybody if he goes on.
He looked so cooked tonight, please Brendan accept your ability has deteriorated too far and retire.
Has been very good for Essendon.
Hope we can send him off with a win next week.

Why do we play him in defence?

I’m nearly always glass half-full, but the last half of the season has seen a massive decline. I love what he’s done for us but unfortunately I think his time is done.
Wish so much we could have sent him out with a flag he deserves, but just won’t happen. Needs to retire.
The one thing that disappoints me with this season is that they didn’t try giving him a rest a couple of times. I reckon he could have gone better with a couple of spells
