Former #9 Dylan Shiel - from July 2022

The hate for Shiel in this thread is unwarranted. He’s played well and should remain in the team. There are others in the team that should be dropped that are evidently not performing

The person who did that is now gone and now it will take time to fix that.

In reality, I am not talking huge changes. I think the list is much better balanced than it was in the last 4 Dodoro years.

If we had of moved out Shiel last offseason, then everyone would be happy. It seemed like GWS were lined up to get Shiel last offseason, and for whatever reason, they cooled. So part of it is out of our control.

Will be fascinating to see what they do this offseason. Do they shop Parish or Tsatas? Do they not give Shiel a new contract? Interesting to see how it unfolds

Only club who boos there own players or bronx cheers says a lot of how we treat players

Three games in a row playing in the guts and did well. Definitely finds the ball. We won in the stoppages and so you have to give tick there. I don’t catch enough of what he does defensively to comment there.

But you have to hand it to him. Would have been in people’s votes the last three weeks.

Absolute load of codswallop

The players constantly disrespect fans so shouldn’t be upset if they cop a little back sometimes

Shiel has this year, maybe next year. Lets pump 46 games into him in the hopes we can push to 11th instead of 13th this year.

At the draft - 2 x Davey, Wanganeen, Munkara, Menzie, Nguyen, the two NGA’s this draft, Bewick F/S 2026 draft? I know you can keep turning them over until you find the good ones it’s just better to have those positions locked in and focus on other positions at draft time.

How’s that logic any different than playing Merrett every week?

None of those players were high picks or would be on high salaries though.

We have a lot of first and second rounders, and a lot of salary thrown at inside midfielders

Fair point.

You’re definitely right though. A lot of late picks and list spots have been given to small forwards. Pity none of them have been any good!

Might be the dumbest thing you have said…in the past 24 hours

It’s not remember when fans booed Stanton coming to the bench

With Caldwell injured Setterfield is in the best midfield trio. He’s decent when he isn’t injured.

Merrett, Durham, Setterfield.

Look, it’s damn good point and one that I can’t reconcile. Such policy is good for culture.

But just how good are the likes of Shiel, McGrath and Redman?

Is their form so consistently strong that they should be getting played over the kids? Are the kids that far off it?

There’ll be plenty of opportunity to make young players earn their spot in the side and learn the lesson you speak of (not that we do that with senioir players but that’s another story).

But blooding kids and seeing what they’re made of at the expense of players that are either has beens or fair at best cloggers needs to happen now. Pump games into them to either fast track their development or weed out those that aren’t gonna cut it.

You really do believe your own narrative that you concocted in your min don’t you

Your saying that Stanton didn’t get booed? was all over the news that he was booed

You said we are the only club that boo’s and gives Bronx cheers to our own players.

Thats idiotic
