I’m not sure I agree but you can add Salmon.
Dyl has certainly been keeping the tackle counter busy.
We can blood players without dropping our good players. I’d be looking at dropping Prior, Jones and maybe Redman before Shiel
Depends on whether or not you have suitable replacements. Shiel should be too far down the order to be getting games ahead of Tsatas.
Certainly agree on Jones and Redman. Should be depth at best with a long term intention to move them on.
Mate, if you took in some vision of Tsatas kicking the ball tonight in the VFL, that’s VFL, he’s not a suitable replacement.
Very disappointing that under any sort of pressure the mongrel punt is doled out.
Point stands, even accounting for Tsatas’ kicking
This is going to ruffle some feathers, but 11th worst kick in the comp is keeping out 2 first round mids.

Matt Rowell is 5th
We’d love the majority of that list of players to be at Essendon. Context is key, inside bulls and creative players that take risks will have more kicking turnovers, simple. Doesn’t make them liabilities. There are always exceptions of course.
Funnily I put that in the Tsatas thread last night where people are talking about him being the worst kick to have ever played football and did not get a reply at all.
It’s funny that the guy that most seem to say is keeping him out in sheil is rated the 11th worst kick in the game and Tsatas isn’t on the list
Shiel is actually playing decent footy at the moment but I do think that Tsatas should be taking his spot. They are similarish players with similar strengths and weaknesses, one is just 32 and the other 20. No brainer for mine.
Not sure you can look at turnovers in isolation. Have to factor in score involvements too.
For example, Dusty was a high turnover player because he had licence to take aggressive kicks. But despite a lot of turnovers, his score involvements well exceeded turnovers.
Shiel is going 4.4 score involvements, 4.6 turnovers, so -0.2 rating. As some comparisons
Merrett: +1 (7.6 SI, 6.6 TO)
Caldwell: +4.3 (7.7 SI, 3.3 TO)
Martin: +3.6 (6.4 SI, 2.4 TO)
Durham: +3 (6.2 SI, 3.2 TO)
Tsatas: -2 (3 SI, 5 TO)
Setterfield: 0 (4 SI, 4 TO)
Hobbs: +2.6 (5.4 SI, 2.8 TO)
Shiel tried his fkn heart out against WCE. Not sure how many if his mates can say they met that metric. Sh/it kick? Often. But he’s mostly getting it going in the right direction. Have to be unlucky to get dropped considering others outputs.
Thoughts about this @alex.f.94 ?
This is a great list. Is your point that Shiel belongs with the best players in the competition?
Rankine Merrett Rowell et al
Point well made.
Garbage on the biggest stage.
So many toe pokes to Collingwood players so he didn’t need to put his head over it.
Get this fraud the ■■■■ out of this club
Its honestly not even Dylans fault.
The coaches are squarely to blame for this.
There is no universe where he should be playing in our senior side moving forward.
If its not the answer to an eventual premiership then we shouldnt be doing it, and it most absolutely certainly isnt.
He squibbed multiple contests. Simply refused to put his head over the ball and kept going for the toe poke
So many bad decisions
Awful disposal
Was it his worst defensively too
2 days ago I got accused of trolling because I said Shiel should be dropped for Tsatas. I don’t even care what he does in games he shouldn’t be playing when we can prioritise a kid and development.
