Why would you even think it was a sick joke, recall can often be skewed with the passage of time so it was only a polite enquiry.
Anyway, as for that kick I’ll try and be objective. I’m not sure how you can say it was under no pressure when he had Anderson on his tail when he took possession, and yes it was a high ball of about 40 metres that ended up a contest inside 50. He obviously sensed he couldn’t break away from Anderson. Not his greatest but not a ‘useless disposal as you describe.
And sure enough, l couldn’t see any forwards leading towards Shiel as he took possession.
His next kick 30 seconds later- a 50 metre low trajectory bullet to Durham 25 meters straight in front was the expectation most of us had when he first arrived at Essendon Football Club but didn’t produce often enough.
Check it if you can be bothered and get back to me.
my recollection of when he first joined us was how long it took him to kick his first goal. I recall he had numerous opportunities but kept missing. So it went in for game after game.
The rusted on bomber mates and l were thinking along the same lines funnily enough. We were all getting curious about why he hadn’t snagged one after a few games. He got his first at Marvel and the thinking was, the flood gates have been opened.
Just getting a handle on it now on the AFL app while enjoying a crumpet with lovely Manuka honey.
The camera zooms in for the bounce and when Dyl kicks the ball it momentarily leaves the top boundary before panning out to allow vision of the unfolding next contest.
