Game v Sydney Review Thread: Screw Diggers

So wonderful, when Myers is hitting them from outside 50 it’s usually a good game from us.

How good was that! So nice to wake up feeling like this! Looking forward to watching the replay multiple times this week. Well done boys. There’ll be a few sore bodies- noticed Stringer grab the back of his leg too- god I hope we don’t lose any/many so we can repeat this next Saturday.

I actually reckon they made the move in the second quarter. Stringer wasnt having an impact, looked injured and in the last part of the second quarter he was definitely on Allir, at least trying to make a contest. On the 3rd it was Stringer and Brown and they did better on him.

I yelled out “well at least you can do lines off the umpires ■■■ tonight”.

I should sit closer to the bench

Had the same pelican threaten to call his precious anti social number again because after Zach Jones floor Langford I went with “if ■■■■■ could be ■■■■■ you’d be that ■■■■”

Yeah, tough game, might need to rest a few next week

That was my favourite moment of the night because
It sealed the game ( in my eyes at least).
It was good to see Myers kick that goal.
It made Sydney look disorganised.
It’s was funny.
Been reading this thread just waiting for someone to post it.
Thanks.

The Sydney bloke thinking “nah, he ain’t passing it to Myers” before ■■■■■■■ off to the bench and watch him drill the sealer

Never had much of an opinion either way with horse but last night the first thing he started talking about was how buddy has only trained for 20min all year. Big deal, heaps of players in there 30’s hardly train. No mention at all about how well we played. Full of excuses.

I was going to post that review. Quality stuff. I like them highlighting the small stuff. I just went back and found Devs shepherd. They are spot on

Super impressive last night. Almost a case of ‘rope a dope’ as we went toe to toe with them in the first half then rang rings around them in the second.

A team is only supposed to be as good as it’s bottom six players. Well ours are going so well at the moment it’s difficult to pick out who they actually are.

Let’s just keep the momentum going and belt the snot out of Hawthorn next week. Like, really farking belt them.

Just to complete the list, Stringer would normally be a part of the rotations but was restricted last night, Raz was out on the wing a fair bit, Saad and McKenna function as wings a lot of the time - both with ~40% of their disposals forward of centre, and we know Guelfi can also be effective there, as well as Goddard.

So I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say that last nights side had 13 players who can be effective in the midfield and 15 if you are willing to include Saad and McKenna who can take possession in the defensive 50 but regularly dispose of it in the forward half.

Signs we’ve become a quality side - playing as a confident collective spirit

  1. Hurley beating the Budster to the ball and running away from him
  2. Brown’s clutch goal from distance after the siren to put us in front
  3. Tippa’s touch pass over a Swans defender to Fantasia
  4. Bags and Myers putting one over Florent
  5. Devon Smith’s tackle on Florent
  6. McKenna’s tackle on wing and run away to space
  7. Touch pass by Francis to Walla
  8. Parish tackle on Hayward

Did he lament the fact that their 14 frees were probably in more dangerous parts of the ground that helped them score to our more benign frees where they wouldn’t have had much impact on our scoring?

Or the fact that his players were allowed to hold onto to the ball for an eternity, whilst being tackled in our for forward line, before releasing it early in the game and as soon as his players instantly tackled one of ours it was a htb decision to them?

Nah! Didn’t think so.

He is becoming one of the biggest whingers in the League, great to watch.
