GCS and GWS stats-wise look to be as screwed as their male teams.
It’s nuts to think they have just 4 of the players they started with in 2020. Even Lauren Ahrens can’t rescue that. And respect to whoever edited her image on her Wikipedia page: nice jumper!
You may have seen my confusion earlier this year where my brain labelled Sophie Molan as an AFLW player for us, not just a VFLW one.
FWIW, she’s at least part-time training with the AFLW team as well.

What’s the go with our AFLW team? I’ve heard very little about the team and how it’s shaping up for our second year? Have we recruited anyone decent? Are we expected to improve? How come there’s been no coverage or focus on the dude this season? Let’s hope for more wins and a finals birth this year.

I’m all aboard the Paige Scott hype train. Can’t wait to see her bully more opponents.
Part of the reason there is no hype, is that the AFL and AFLPA are still negotiating the CBA.
The big sticking point is the length of the season.
The AFL want to keep it the AFLW a 10 Round season for the next 9 years, while the AFLPA was to get to a 17 Round season by 2026.
So, at this moment the season is due to start the first weekend of September, but there is no fixture and no idea on how long the season will go.
I did hear who was Top 4 in the 2KM time trial, but sworn to secrecy (at least until the first practice match or if the club decides to publish it).
Is this the reason for the delay in the fixture?
10 rounds is pretty lame. At the very least every team should play each other once.
Yep. They can’t do a fixture without the CBA signed-off. Last CBA was a one season deal, for last year’s ‘two seasons in a year’ situation.
I want Paige Scott to learn to fully use her attributes to be a dominant player - The talent is there. Does she have the necessary craft?
Lilly deserves some too.
Hopefully she gets a good run at it injury free.

Boo fkn hoo, I wish the AFaiL would be serious about the women’s comp. A 10 game season is still tokenism. Let them play a 17 game season over winter, with VFLW as the undercard.
Quarters will run for about two minutes longer after being extended to 15 minutes (plus time on for goals or major injuries) before the existing final two minutes plus full time on.
Having different “time on” rules for different parts of the quarter remains silly. Pick a rule and amend the nominal amount of minutes to get the “right amount” of total time.
I believe after all that fluff the quarter length will still typically be shorter than the VFLW (yes, they do run in warmer months of the year) and of course the number of H&A games remains much more token.
I don’t understand how the VFLW season goes longer than the AFLW season.
It just doesn’t make sense.
I’m sure it’s to do with how much coaches get paid. Don’t think they want things to get out of hand like AFLM does.
