General AFLW comments and articles

To get us the bump up the ladder, Clarke needs to be up the field, breaking lines with her pace and kicking it in 40+ accurately.

She does that just five times in a game and we are otherwise basically competent, we beat most teams. She does it ten and… hello.

Scott is lovely and sometimes sillily exciting, but is not delivering.

On small forwards, I’m kinda glad Keck had a dud first year, and not just because FARK CARLTON. Also helpful Gee kinda woke up late this season.

RookieMe Central have their free AFLW Draft Guide out now, so we can speculate on who we want from Pick 11.

Who is the most likely Amy Gaylor?

That’s who I want.

So, it seems the club’s article talking up Ash Van Loon was to boost her value for a potential trade…

New signing!
“The first deal of the AFLW Trade Period has been completed, with the Bombers parting with Pick 65 to land ruck Courtney Murphy from the Giants. @AFLcomau

I guess as a Steph Wales short-term replacement, if she’s even just solid as a ruck, pick 65 is not a lot to pay.

Aren’t they the one with 1 disposal in 1 game of AFLW across 2 seasons?! Are the club of the mind that at pick 65 there will be no one else available? :person_shrugging:

Murphy has had two (?) AFLW pre-seasons and seasons of training under their belt.

If you need an instant option, a pick 65 from the draft is unlikely to be it.

Low hanging fruit.

Any quality rucks via FA or trade avaible?

Erin McKinnon is out there. De-listed a year ago by the Saints, also played a number os seasons at GWS. Did miss some games through injury.

If you wanted someone similar to Murphy’s height, could have gone with Maddy Boyd.

Versatile, so when Wales comes back, can easily slot in defence or the forward if we had injuries.

In the end, Pick 65 is very cheap, but not the route I would have gone.

Blitz knows nothing about Maddy Boyd; she has never been mentioned here.

With lists of 30, having two legit rucks can be problematic. But having zero good rucks can be disastrous (see: elimination final).

I do not know anything about this new person (who lacks a thread here), but would happily have grabbed HARDINGHAM. Seems we have taken the certainty of something, rather than the risk of not getting something good.

Ha, first post mentioning Boyd was in 2018 at that frigid stormy Kardinia Park mess.

Cats’ team included the likes of Goring, A McDonald, Keryk, a forward line including Clifford, Ivey, Darby, Boyd and Trevean, Cranston, Klingbeil, Purcell, and oh yeah NINA.

Bastards dropped G Clarke, though, and DeMatteeeeeeeeeoooooooooo kicked goal of the night.

Couple of moves today, including a Ruck, North’s Liz McGrath going to West Coast.

Hawks picked up Keely Coyne from the Doggies.

Lily Mithen on her way from the Dees to the Suns.

Fixed.

Why arent we after Tayla Harris?

We have Bonnie as our only tall foward

Because Harris a limited player, is nowhere as good as Toogood, and Harris would nt mix well with Toogood. What the team needs more than anything is speed.

I’m a little disappointed about what I’m reading through the media. 3 players now being targeted from our club in Scott, Clarke and van loon. Largely all young players with a heap of potential. And I haven’t seen one single name that we are going after to bolster our list.

We don’t have a list to contend, another gun midfielder and a gun tall forward short of a contending list and we haven’t been linked to anyone. Disappointing if it plays out this way
