Beef farming is the biggest employer, but this is pretty devastating for the community. Tourism on the island is improving with a world class golf course, but this closure is going to hit hard.

Speaking as a former-King Islander, if anyone is looking for a golf adventure, check out Cape Wickham links. The island has other courses too.

The best surf in the Southern Hemisphere is at Naracoopa/Martha Lavinia. All within a 45min flight from Melbourne.

It’s ok.

I can peer over my back fence into the place the now call Thornbury. It’s interesting that the streets and laneways of Thornbury were once lined with piggeries and abbotoirs. The place used to be called Porktopia!!
