Yeah, I was expecting a mistrial due to a hung jury.

Will everyone watch the tele-movie?

I dont recall anyone on the right being so strident on anti islamic sentiment post 911. The current levels of every tiny bit or critique of israel being labelled as anti semetic reminds me of uncle Leo

I always thought there were elements of doubt. There’s never been any reasonable explanation of why she wanted them dead, let alone to it in such an elaborate manner.

Wasnt she upset with the family after her husband left her??

The jury see and hear a lot more than what the media write.

Sometimes motive is unclear or even non existent

What matters is she had means and intent to kill them

Not sure that’s the case here. The media was fixated on just about every word of this trial.

The ABC online has now excised references to a string of anti-Semitic attacks over the weekend.
However Patricia Karvelas online refers to attacks on Jews at a synagogue and at a restaurant.
Needs Media Watch attention for careless reporting.

The media fixate on things as you just said, the jury have to read, see and hear all the evidence, both ways and make a judgment on that.
The media make the judgment on single issues without a lot of nuance involved.

Means, yes. Surely intent is closely tied to motive.

I’m not familiar with the system here, but does she have the opportunity to do any pre sentencing psych reports? If so, would assume that may give an insight into her motivations

She wanted them dead, it’s possible that could be without reason

The Judge gave directions to the Jury on the facts to be considered in their findings of fact.

There are always reasons, but whether people can work out what they are without the person saying (or even knowing why themselves sometimes) is the issue.

Fair call.

My personal speculation is an act of revenge on the Ex. He was supposed to be there too

But even if there wasn’t even a rational motive, or even a clearly discernible one, the fact death cap mushrooms were used only leaves two possibilities:

(1) She foraged them thinking they were safe to eat and it was a horrible accident

or

(2) She foraged them knowing they were death cap mushrooms and it was an intentional act

I know there was an “it must have been a contaminated batch I bought” defence, but on evidence (heck even just on probability), that seems highly improbable.

Yep, either way she’s responsible for the death for 3 people and should never see the light of day outside prison ever again, even if it was downgraded to manslaughter
