Has the economic credentials for sure. And being an “outsider” is not such a bad thing in the wake of Trudeau’s recent polling dives. IMO, that’s why Freeland didn’t get the nomination. She was too closely associated with Justin.
And the possibility that after seeing what happened down south to Kamila, they wanted to go with a "safer"option.
The interesting thing is the Conservatives are trying to paing Carney as a friend of Trump. Bit rich. Pollieviere has been a bit of a Temu Trump/ pseudo - Tony Abbott with his 3 word Right Wing slogans. But now that Trump is on the nose in Canada, Pierre has a bit of a problem. Interestingly, the Liberals have roared back in the polls. All they have to do is hold the East- especially Ontario and Quebec- and they’ll most likely get back in. Most of the elections are over by the time the voting hits Saskatchewan.

Eutelsat CEO Eva Berneke says talks with the European Union on replacing Starlink are intensifying. She confirms they are in talks with Italy and Canada.

It doesn’t look like anyone was in control of the Solong.
The tanker would have appeared on radar plots, AIS plots and would have been visible at reasonable distances (I don’t know what the vis-met was, though).
And if they had lost steering, the doesn’t appear to be any effort to slow the vessel down at all.

Duerte was taken into custody on arrival from Hong Kong, on the basis of an ICC arrest warrant for his crimes against humanity .
Although the Phillipines has not rejoined the ICC, the Phillipines Government claims to be acting in response to an Interpol Red Notice received before his arrival from Hong Kong.
The Phillipines is an Interpol member.

Our ABC carried a report on Syrian civilian massacres, including protests in Damascus at the actions of the Government forces for revenge killings of Alawite civilians.
The ABC report was by Istanbul based Eric Tiozek,mostly based on a BBC report .Some of the indiscriminate killings of civilians have occurred around Mediterranean ports where some Russians are holed up.
The MSM also reported reactions of UN Humanitarian officials, including an urgently scheduled UNSC meeting. UN humanitarian agencies are running out of funding for Syria.

An UNRWA official was among those killed in Latakia, along with whole families.
The Homs Latakia road has been blocked.
The UN has reported difficulties in getting its people to the regions and is mostly reliant on civilians informing the UN office in Damascus. Additionally the Caretaker Government has restricted Journalists access within Syria.
The UNSG has called on the caretaker government to investigate and bring to account the military responsible for the Latakia massacre of civilians. This has been supported by civilian protests in Damascus opposed to discrimination against minorities.
