Trump posting on social media at 2 am Tehran time that everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran.
Tehran city has a population of 9.7 million, Tehran metro has an estimated population of 16.8 million.

Terror is a weapon and Trump’s 2am tweets can be bloody terrifying.

If people do try to evacuate en-masse, it would cause a big logistical disruption within Iran

Israel Government is so full of crap.

I reckon most of the barbers in Melbourne now come from Iran, though they claim being Persian. Sad history and not well known. I used to visit regularly in the time of the Shah, and Tehran was a beautiful city and it seemed happy, progressive and thriving. It has been so long under rule of the Islamic clergy that I wonder if they were replaced what would be next.

There’s a pretty highly educated and progressive population still in Iran. The religious nutjob minority are suppressing the bulk of the population from expressing their will, but of all the countries that could pull off a transition it would be Iran.

The problem is the nut jobs are plentiful enough and experienced enough at violence that they’ll be difficult to control long term if not part of the government.

Is that what Israels aim is, a regime change?
you see photos from the region from the 1960’s and totally different, and Iranians in America are saying they are persian, and celebrating Israel’s attack as long as its focused on the rulers.

I’m pretty sure I posted some photos a while back from one of our trips there and the traffic was chaotic at the best of times so would hate to see what a mass evacuation looked like.

Back in the last years of the Shah, it was just a really nice place to visit, Tehran was like Paris without traffic !

I have been back in the 1990s, but only visited Shiraz University, and much had changed.

No idea on what Israel Government would want other than killing all their enemies.

Mate of mine took a holiday in Iran a few years back, had a great time, said the people were generally very welcoming and chill, no sense of religious fanaticism among the everyday population at all. Most people there have a drink etc in private (the Persian winemaking tradition pre-dates the current Iranian government or indeed Islam itself by millennia), treat religion with the seriousness that Australian Catholics do (yeah, you go to church and pray and try to be a good person, but that stuff about fish every Friday and no sex before marriage is a bit much) and generally just try to live their best lives - as well as you can when the loony religious minority running your government sends the secret police after transgressors, and the venal cynical old ■■■■■■■■ running the country a few hundred miles to the west keeps chucking missiles at you to distract the world from his corruption charges.

If Israel needs 'Merican B52 bombs to destroy Iran’s nuclear capability buried deep in a mountain, and then we see heaps of refuelling planes having been activated and airborne, and now I hear reports that Dear Leader Trump will leave the G7 early citing middle east worries…
I don’t like the sound of any of this.

Actually only remember drinking a great beer, called Shams. It was a wheat beer and was excellent. Persia is recorded as the first place to brew beer, and I guess the Shiraz grapes are named after the place. Drinking alcohol was a pleasant experience before the Ayatollah came back.
