Thanks mate, just thinking about contingency plans if it gets dicey

Nobody who has nuclear weapons gives them up. Nobody smart that is.

Ukraine got conned by the US that they’d support them if they did.

Ukraine is example A why nobody who has them will give them up again. And why many want them.

It’s worth noting that since Israel has had them, they’ve not faced any realistic likelihood of invasion.

The minute Israel gives up its nukes or the neighbours even believe they have no nukes is the day Israel doesn’t exist.
Quite simply the threat of nukes keeps the neighbours from invading

South Africa did, cos the old apartheid regime decided no nukes was better than black people having nukes.

Can the US start dropping bunker busters on Russian positions in Eastern Ukraine now? Since Trump is suddenly a proponent of “peace through strength” and he’s now about 200 days late on his promise to end the war in Ukraine the day after the election?

But that was a situation where they didn’t see “themselves” as keeping the nukes.

Well, that and the very real possibility the madmen in charge might use them,. In case of any lingering doubts, the Gaza cleanse.

Does that mean the information is incorrect?

I’m sure there are other sources. I did a 1m search and found it.

Ok, that might actually start WW3 and/or a nuclear battle. So, it ain’t happening.

Dropping some bombs on a country with little capability to materially fight back, and whose ability to shoot down your bombers has been neutered is a completely different kettle of fish.

So true

No, it’s better that they just fight it out, like how you let toddlers fight it out remember? There are no clear wins for Trump out of that one, he’s dropped it, “This is the first I’m hearing of it”

Absolutely agree but at the end of the day for them it’s all they have.
The minute they are seen as weak the others will pounce.

Penny Wong hasn’t clarified where the Army and RAAF have been deployed to in the Middle East to assist in the repatriation of Australians from Iran.under Operation Beech ( the program with DFAT for repatriation of Australians)
Journalists haven’t pressed her, other than to advise that the deployment to repatriate from Iran had not yet involved the ADF in Azerbaijan,
From memory, prior approval is required to deploy any military in another country. You’re in luck if Australia already has ADF and if there is an Australian Embassy or Consulate . I presume you’ve registered with them.

Next cabinet meeting…Albo…now what does everyone think about our actions in the ME? Sit the ■■■■ down, Marles!

I don’t believe that for a moment.
Israel’s neighbors are weak, and Israel’s military apparatus is second to none in the region. Furthermore, the USA would not allow it under any circumstances.

Count how many US bases there are in Afghanistan on that map… cause you know, the Taliban is a widely known staunch US ally…

Most of them are reliant on US arms sales, which always have conditions attached.
Also, when the US decided to cease bilateral aid and pause funding aid through the UN, Egypt and Israel were the only countries initially exempted.
