That’s fine.
But genuine question…
I thought after Assad fled there could be a positive change, or even self determination bombing them seems like the last thing they need right now.

You’d love to own shares in Raytheon or Lockheed right about now.
The excuse was the ISIS Syrian regime’s persecution of the Druze. The reason is that Netanyahu’s corruption trial was in danger of starting up again and this is a good distraction.
The Druze and to a lesser extent the Christians are under attack from the new regime. A number of Israeli Druze were on the way to help the Syrian Druze but Israel had committed to protecting the Syrian Druze as they have close ties to the Druze in Israel. The Druze fight for Israel as part of the IDF. The new Syrian regime are another terrorist regime who have tried to appear as reformed. There are many Druze and Christians living in fear in Syria.
A really stupid response
Can’t let this go. If you knew anything about the middle east you would know that the Druze, as well as the Christians and Kurds are persecuted. You should be thankful you are not suffering as they are.
Yep.
But still, excuse rather than reason.
If Netanyahu gave even a tiny little ■■■■ about middle eastern Christian minorities, he’d maybe do something about the repeated and increasingly frequent Israeli settler terrorism against them. That’d be a hell of a lot easier and less incendiary than bombing Syria.
But dammit, I’ve gotten sucked in to the Israel argument on here again, despite my best intentions. Dropping out again now.
Thankfully then we have Bibi there to represent the downtrodden.
Gotta nuke somethin’.
This flare up started as an alleged clash between the Druze and Bedouin tribes , partly in an area where Israel had taken control of some sort of UN line. Reportedly the regime stepped in , there were killings and captures of Druze. Then Israel intervened.
Who knows the truth.
BTW, the Netanyahu trial has begun again. The US Ambassador has been attending in support of Netanyahu, tweeting that he is being persecuted etc ( the narrative from Washington).
Running at the same time, Huckabee has requested Israel to investigate the killing of the ethnic Palestine American citizen by settlers and bring them to justice.
IDK where that leaves the US relationship with the new regime. It had been sweetness and light, sanctions lifted.
According to the Spox of the State Department, the US has requested the Syrian government to withdraw its military from southern Syria, in order to de-escalate and to find a path forward.
When questioned whether Israel had been asked to withdraw, she said she couldn’t provide an answer.
Reportedly a large number of Druze have left the Golan Heights to other areas of Syria, some gone to Israel annexed Golan Heights. Netanyahu has warned Druze living in Israel against crossing the border to Syria.
OMG There is plenty of Christians in Israel living as Israeli citizens with equal rights. Equal rights, that is something that is everywhere in the middle east yeah. You are overstating the Israeli settler’s issue. You really think this is comparable to how they are treated by the muslims in the middle east. I have many Christian arab friends, Syrians, Egyptians, Lebanese, they all tell the same story, and it is horrific. On the Syria bombings, you do know that the Druze begged Israel to come and help them as they be being slaughtered, raped and tortured.
THe Israel govt has told the Druze to not go to Syria as many are heading there to help protect the Syrian Druze from massacre. Israel want the IDF to manage the battle without non soldiers involved.
Pretty sure HM was clear on not wanting to be drawn into Israel discussion, but there is a larger picture. My knowledge of this particular Israeli intervention is limited, and I suppose your acceptance of Al Jazeera reporting is relevant, but seems like there’s multiple views as ever. For example Druze not especially keen in some corners to be painted as pro-Israeli, locals fear the Israeli bombing will give further cause.
“ “[What Israel is doing] is inflaming sectarian tension, because it gives fuel to the suggestions that Druze are secretly working with Israel to divide the country,” Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi, an expert on Syria who has extensively researched local dynamics in Suwayda

Israel continues to bomb Syria, ostensibly to support Druze forces in the southwest, even after ceasefire is declared.
We all know who Bibi is, he has told the world many times. This false equivalency between minorities in Israel and the rest of the arab world is just gobsmacking. Minorities in Israel have equal rights, can participate in all areas of society, some are judges, doctors IDF scientists etc. Israel is the only democracy in the middle east, they have gay rights, equal rights for women, they educate women. None of this exists anywhere else in the middle east.
The minorities include Druze, Christians, Bedouins and Muslims. Please let me know where else this occurs in the middle east.
Al Jazeera is owned and run by Qatar, just behind Iran in the list of terrorist countries, although they disguise it better… Qatar have the top Hamas leaders living there and they are all wealthy. One Al Jazeera journo was found with a hostage in his house, go figure.
FYI - polite warning has now been issued.
Okay. Not gaza but point taken. Another front opened, now closed
Minorities in Israel have equal rights, can participate in all areas of society
So we already have a multi-state solution, but the two (or more) states are (unofficially, illegally) at war?
Minorities in Israel are Israeli citizens.
