When my daughter needed to be airlifted from basecamp, the only way she could communicate with me and the insurance company was through messenger. Cutting access to that in Nepal is like cutting off their lifeblood.

I would find it odd that they protect children but only on certain websites.
If that was the aim then first targets should be “news” websites.
I applaud the intent but the methodology is pretty farked.

Even if this has been confirmed (which is far from the case) it renders the policy utterly useless for protecting kids from predators and bullying, which is its purported intention. But that’s one for the Australian politics thread, I guess.
Fkg Nepal now. It’s my fault you know. I was planning a trip to Russia and Eastern Europe a couple of years back. That obviously ain’t gonna happen now. Then I was planning one to the middle east, Turkey, Israel and Jordan. Also looking a bad idea. And my backup for that was to hike the Annapurna circuit in … guess where … Nepal.
If the world would stop going to ■■■■ just for a little while so I can visit some of it, that would be nice.
