As been mentioned, we have a very young list (even though most in the media believe otherwise). It’s tough for 18-19 year olds who have come out if the TAC competition to compete in the VFL, little own the AFL.
The VFL competition is a very contested game, where light bodies get exposed.
I also think it would make quite some difference to have an experienced coach as well.
Whenever this topic gets brought up I think back to 2007, the VFL Grand Final in Geelong.
They won the flag easy. Tom Lonergan played and kicked a few goals. Brent Prismall may have been BOG. Even our own Sam Hunt had his moment of glory. The whole town of Geelong flooded the ground (including senior players) got around the boys and the literally everyone was belting out the song.
The following week the seniors pumped Port to win the flag.
I wouldn't mind a moment like that down at Windy Hill or wherever.
