You’re not supposed to if the ump has already called Clear Out, meaning everyone (from both teams) has to clear out, unless the handball travels beyond the protected area.
Cameron’s had one in a previous game where not only was he in the protected area, but both he and the player who handballed it to him were oob. That should have been a throw in.

The hand wringing comes from essentially dominating for a quarter and losing ground on the scoreboard.
Things which are not unique to this particular game either.
