Ouch. That’s pretty poor. Always a risk, but I’d have thought they’d just push the entire field back 20mins

Good win by Minjee Lee. A 3rd major winning by 3.

I shot 89 for the first time a month ago, followed it up with a 100 after 16 holes (Thank god I ran out of light)

If you haven’t already, give Centenary Park in Frankston a go. Excellent public golf course. Not easy, but not super hard either…as long as you hit the ball straight.

Finally back in form. I was concerned she’d lost the drive to keep doing the hard yards to succeed after those earlier major victories.

i played there a few years ago when i was just getting going. there’s one bastard of a par 5 that felt a kilometre long. played 5 of the best shots of my life (up to that moment) and was still 50m short of the green.

I generally play off the blue tees. I rarely reach any of the par 5’s in 2, but have done so with the wind blowing in the right direction. the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th are brutal when you are tired. I found myself at +6 after the 15th one time, then finished with a quad, triple and quad bogey. Completely farked my round. Took me a long time to recover from that…not sure I have to be honest.

Minjee’s win is one for the ages. Nelly Korda and others in the field have been scathing about the brutal conditions and resultant slow play, well over 6 hours for the later pairs to complete a round. The course is baked and the pin positions verging on “impossible” according to Korda. Especially I gather on day 3. Wouldn’t think so watching Minjee’s bogey free 3 under highlights which I post below instead of the final round because this was when she won it, truly one of the great rounds. Her putting for the first 3 rounds was nothing short of surgical in the toughest of tests. Is it all down to the long putter she adopted after her putting woes of recent years? I think I read she has gone from well over a 100 last year to 5th this year for strokes gained to putting, and I’d be surprised if she didn’t lead that stat for this win. The stroke looks so smooth and deliberate and even though she wobbled at times in the final round and had a bit of trouble getting the ball to the hole she still made several decent putts when needed. Wonderful for her, especially considering the scars of last year’s US Open are still fresh. To have held it all together in the final 2 rounds when she was waiting on most shots is a credit to her mental strength.

Terrific post. I was concerned she’d decided the grind wasn’t worth it. Great to see her back at the top again.

Golf is such a brutal game. Tommy Fleetwood leading by one going into the last hole, Keegan Bradley birdies the hole thanks to fleetwood showing him the line, whilst bogeys it himself to lose by 1 shot.

Day finished 2 shots behind, which was impressive.

Scheffler losing his aura. He would have been odds on to win after the first 2 days, but struggled day 3 when others were shooting low scores.

Were the bunkers ready for you is the real question

Fleetwood still without a win on the PGA tour. That loss will hurt for a long time.
