The first 6 or so at Barwon are absolutely fantastic. Played Curlewis with my grandfather multiple times 30+ years ago, and enjoyed it, but I think it’s been redone since then so no idea what it’s like
(Far out, he’s been dead for 20+ years)
Is someone who shoots 88 at Wickham a beginner/social golfer?
Thanks man, appreciate the response!
I’m barely a golfer most days lol
I like Curlewis. Have not played Barwon Heads - heard great things about it but it always seems difficult to get on.
The first bunch of holes at Barwon (until you get back to the club house) are as good as any anywhere. Super fun, links style. The rest aren’t to the same level, but are still good. Way better than 13th beach (thinking of something nearby)
Another change of plans as basically nothing was available tomorrow - so playing Queenscliff for something a little different.
National Old course was absolutely brutal today - just medium wind but some absolutely crazy pin placements and just so fast around the greens… Had to stop after 15 due to lightning… Oh well it’s ticked off the list and was an absolute pleasure!
The Old Course is brutal, even to members who aren’t single figure players. Hope you enjoyed the clubhouse with its wonderful views along the coast to Point Nepean.
Hannah hangs on to win the BMW Ladies in South Korea. Shots the lights out early with a pair of 64s and then hung tough down the stretch. Lead all the way in a strong field, just about the hardest way to win they say. Already 8 in the world, this will entrench her status. Strong argument to say she’s our best golfer at present, any gender.
I reckon i lost 8 balls last time I was there.
So much fun.
best course for losing balls is lancefield, 1m off fairway? roughs eaten the ball and you dont find it until you’ve rolled your ankle
That’s like Terrace Downs in NZ - brutal.
LIV Adelaide general public tickets went on sale today and apparently sold out in about 2hrs
I see Devon Smith is playing off +5 these days and just fitted Clayton Oliver with clubs. Think he is training him as well.
Handicap system clearly is “different” these days. If you were off +5 back in the day you’d have been amongst the top very very few in the country.
Ah, ok. We had a couple off +5 and +6 at our golf club and they turned pro. One won the Tasmanian Open a couple of years ago but haven’t heard of him since. The other two, nothing. It’s a tough gig!
It’s very very tough.
(Handicap system changed at the start of 2022)
Ok, thanks for that.
What was the change?
