Laos is very interesting place to visit and such a contrast cf its neighbours Thailand, Vietnam and to a lesser extent Cambodia (haven’t been to China or Myanmar)
I was thinking of doing a loop from Bangkok, e.g. night train to Vientiane, road to Vieng Vang, on to Luang Prabang & surrounds, then the slow boat up the Mekong to the Thai border, Chiang Rai / Mai & train back to Bangkok.
