Why? And what has changed so a bad idea is now a good idea?Should have given tassie a team

Hawthorn has 8000 members north around 5000 which is more then GWS
Split the games between Hobart/Launceston.
They love their football down and it surely a better option then round peg square hole
Should have given tassie a team
Will not ever work
What are the 'issues' Macca had to work on?
He apparently has poor communication skills, can be far too blunt but also does not explain his game plan well. Apparently.

and GWS will smack bang in the middle of rugby and only 9000 to their games?
They get more at belerive oval and slighlty less at Manuka
The AFL can keep proping them up but even Sydney isn't overally popular compared to other sports

Tassie is broke with a declining population and is already a one eyed football state. There is no growth here.
There is huge potential in NSW. It might take 40 years but it will be worth it.
I am Tasmanian FWIW

The state of Tassie is quite divided between north and south. Very few down in Hobart will head up to Launceston and very few up there will head down to Hobart. Both North and Hawks have substantial followings now and creating a "Tassie" team will not change that at all. They would need to somehow build a base of at least 8000 very quickly to even make it sustainable at some level and that just is not going to happen. Also deciding which area the team belongs to (Hobart of Launceston) would create enoromous angst and put one or the other area off-side immediately.
The time to create a side was before the Hawks and North headed down there, now it is too late.
Sydney is still not worth it though they need the AFL handouts to survive
If not Tasmania there was somewhere else a team could have gone

New Zealand?
It cannot continue to brand itself as an Aussie side without a Sydney presence. Going into the west of Sydney was the right idea, they should have moved the Western Bulldogs there though.
Tassie will be appealing in about 50 years once it warms up a bit.
Those 13000 are probably the upper limit for Tassie. Sydney has no realistic limit.Hawthorn has 8000 members north around 5000 which is more then GWSWhy? And what has changed so a bad idea is now a good idea?Should have given tassie a team

Bulldogs senior players were woeful in close games. They were the ones who made crucial errors at critical times in close games. The Bulldogs senior players have let the club down in the last two years. It's no wonder McCartney read them the riot act.
Bulldogs can forget about getting Boyd. He'll end up going to Hawthorn next year in exchange for a fringe player. Everyone else does.
griffen and pick 6 for boyd
crazy?
Given next year they basically could have done a straight swap?
A little but yeah.
Boyd & first round pick for Griffen & second/third rounder would have made more sense imo
Imagine if Boyd turns out to be the next Kreuzer...
Oh how I'd laugh
Or the next Gumby.
Or the next Gumby.
That's not so funny.
Kosi
Does trading Griffen mean that sacking Macca was a mistake?
Who else did Macca pass off?
