New woman’s only WR 2:15:40 by Assefa, beating her time from last year by 10 seconds.
Cracking race between the three girls.
Men still on target too. A sub 2 would be nice but I don’t think they’ll get there unfortunately.

Sebastian Sawe 1:59:30. That is nuts. What a run.
Kejelcha went 1:59:42 and Kiplimo broke the old WR too. Absolutely crazy.
I’ve found that mixing up workout routines keeps things exciting and helps avoid burnout. Adding yoga or a new sport could be a fun way to switch things up.
I believe you are one regular Blitz runner.
My son is training for the Melbourne Marathon.
I recall you guys talking about suitable high quality socks recently, though not sure if it was in this thread.
What are your suggestions ?
My son tells me the heal area is where he is prone to Blisters.
I’d guess just applying Blister pads each time is more effective than the choice of socks.
I love steigen - their claim is blister free
They would be my choice if socks are to blame.
But Features are ok as well.
And i have ice breakers for cold days.
If you’re getting blisters, need to work out why.
distance running too far? (compared to previous runs)
is it the shoes? running multiple days in same pair? were they new shoes?
socks?
the undulation too many hills/ downhills?
My issue is usually new shoes and running too far in them before breaking them in properly.
if you run too far in socks that aren’t breathable that could be the problem as well.
I would probably also add increasing mileage too fast and your feet haven’t conditioned to it. That caused me trouble when i was increasing mileage every day in january after a period where i hadn’t ran for a while due to injury.
Steigen are good. And last forever. I have a couple of pairs that have lasted me for years with regular running wear. I also have some thicker feetures The key for socks is not cotton. Just regular cotton gym socks will lead to blisters when the sweat soaks in (not suggesting he has those but just in case). Good quality specific running socks from any brand will be a massive improvement, then it’s whatever works for his feet. But yeah, Steigen is good, and they’re cheaper than some of the major athletic brand socks as well in my experience.
I just go blister pads.
I’ve printed off some foot outlines (one for each pair of shoe) and any time I run and get a blister I shade it in. That way if I’m doing long runs I can prophylactically pad/tape those blister prone spots.
Though in defence of ignoring my approach is that I do a fair chunk of my shorter runs sockless.
AS @Houli_Dooli and @frosty said, you can’t go wrong with Steigen.
While there are some runners in the house - anyone interested in an entry for the Brighton half marathon (August 30 iirc). I’ve decided I don’t want to risk my shins exploding before a few other events (that I care about more).
