Wanganeen would be in Ports and Salmon would be in Hawthorns. Should make no differents.
Scarlett would be my first choice
Looks like we have two opposing captains for the Skins v Shirts All Star Fantasy Match.

When conversations drift into ‘best fullback/defender’ territory, you seldom hear D Fletcher’s name mentioned. Of course you will hear A Rance or M Scarlett and S Silvangni but only if they dig down a bit will they get to D Fletcher. I’ve even heard James Clement and S Hurn listed higher than D Fletcher. As good as those players were/are, they’re no D Fletcher.
As soon as you mention Dustin Fletcher In any conversation, My mate who is a Geelong supporter, always said “not as good as Scarlett”.
The reasoning for this was always, “but he didn’t ‘play’ on anyone.”
I just started sending him pictures of Fletcher playing on Lockett, Dunstall, Modra, Carey, Abblett… then said “if you can send me some pictures of Scarlett playing on these blokes, we’ll have a conversation of who is better”.
Most Geelong supporters were comparing Fletcher (who was at 350 games by that stage) to Scarlett. By this stage he was playing on a third tall because we had Hooker & Hurley.
Rarely does anyone talk about Fletcher who had played 100-200 games, and was in his prime.
I’m sure he’d be lots of people’s and it’s too fine a line for me to get upset about or into.
Didn’t play on anyone? He played on them all at least a dozen times. Merda!
Lol.
And when lil Matera was the best forward in the game, he played on him, too.

Stanton shouldn’t be in there, although I liked him
Stanton should make it easily
255 games (13th of all time for Essendon)
158 goals (34th of all time for Essendon)
And those are with him missing a year due to the drug saga aswell
One of the more reliable midfielders we have ever had, rarely got injured and was a consistent 23 disposal a game player for pretty much his whole career even from an early age. Multiple top 5 placing in the Crichton.

To be fair to Jobe, he was in a team that did not let him have as much experience in finals as those guys above. So, bit hard to say.
Jobe played in Finals matches. He Just didn’t play very well.
Make no mistake, Watson was a Great player. He’s a Brownlow medalist. But he didn’t stand up in Finals… so I just don’t rate him as high as guys who were primed in September.
Nhill boys - Nil goals is basically the good part of Rance’s career.
Doesn’t make Wallis or Flood ‘great’ players.

You could make one hell of a team, a forward line of Lloyd, Lockett, Franklin, Lucas, O’Loughlin et al.
Shame.
No sense of aliteration.
Lance.
- Darren Bewick.
Fletcher should be no lower than # 2.
Some of the other selections are laughable notably Stanton and Zaharakis over Ramanauskas for starters.
Be careful of those pics, though.
I’m pretty sure Ablett kicked 8, Dunstall 11 and Kernahan 7 in those games. ‘Playing on’ doesnt always mean anything.
Fletcher had his ■■■ handed to him for about the first 4-5 years of his career, which is when he played on the truly great players. He would have obviously fared much better against them in his prime, but he struggled doing it as a kid.
His real contemporaries were Lynch, Hall, Treadrea (if fletch ever played a Port game), Gehrig etc.

Hooker makes this list for me also
Me too. Hooker and Bewick are walk ups to this list IMO.
Truth be known, unless you have made All Australian, should you even be considered on this list?
Cess was a pretty ordinary player, if it has to be a ruck, I reckon John Barnes achieved more in his 2nd stint with us than Cess did with his full career.
Alessio is on the list for purely being the most Italian person to have ever graced the club.

Cess was a pretty ordinary player
He was not ordinary at all. He was an excellent ruckman. Not top 20 worthy though.

Truth be known, unless you have made All Australian, should you even be considered on this list?
You certainly should be. All Australian sides are just the personal opinions of people like Gerard Healy and co.
Harsh on Jay nash.
