Here’s the team - Dreamtime 2019

I love Essendon.

Please, you know what I mean. Our forward line, especially our taller players, have been decimated so it makes sense to bring in McKernan & Lav

We haven’t been capitalizing on our inside 50’s either via marks or bringing ball to ground effectively. Which means scoring down.

Against the teams that pressure us well like how Cats did (& Tigers will) we got screwed over by that.

The structure they trialling will hopefully help with that by making sure we have strength in the air … and also when Smack is in ruck & Stringer into midfield (which might happen more so this game against Dusty) we would be light on for marking targets.

If both was happening at any point we’d at least then have Francis, Lav … and probably Lang fwd

I love it.

I’ll bet the coach(es) spend about 3 seconds on it each week.

I had read at some point they essentially just select a list of 22 names, and some rando in marketing or whatever puts them in positions. Hence why footy show (etc) will show a different “team” to the HS.

No, someone is having a pointed dig each week with one player conspicuously named out of position.
This week it’s Laverde in the back pocket
Last week it was Walla at CHF
Bags as ruck rover previously.

I’m actually enjoying it - look at the team and it’s a bit like ‘Where’s Wally’ each week
Almost worth a summary Thread. Just waiting for peak Saad named as ruck.

Like the look of this team, let’s go!

I actually think an unfit Daniher makes us a worse team as we try to play through him so much. When he can’t run, jump or compete properly he becomes a liability. Love the guy and I genuinely think we need him if we are to win a flag, but right now I think a forward line without him, where we are more likely to lower the eyes is a better option.

I heard the players selected each take a turn at throwing their own name magnet at the board, and however they land, Que sera sera.

It may or may not involve a wager for Schooners on who gets theirs most ridiculous.

With the ins, people have been focusing on the forwards ability to mark or to chase rebounding players.
Got a suspicion there’s another deliberate strategy at play here.
Richmond backs actually regularly attempt to hurt and snipe opposition forwards- tackling to the ground, dropping knees in as second tackler, a few elbows and rabbit punches in marking contests- I’m looking at you Kamdyn, Vlaustin, Grimes etc. They’ve done this to us the last few times we’ve played.
With a forward line of Stringer Smack Walla Begley Laverde and Francis good luck trying that ■■■■.
Some overt physicality is on the cards.

Physicality is good.

I’d add, all of our forwards are marking threats. If they work hard for each other it will limit the Tigers confidence to leave their man and create outnumbers.

Then you won’t be disappointed.

I don’t mind the team. Glad to see Smack in. We need his marking and goal kicking. He is the type that can smash a game apart in 10 mins and get the team believing. Let’s hope that version comes along Saturday night.

Not that fussed about Bags. Blitz has been howling for his removal so there should not be too many complaints about this.

I’m feeling pretty positive about this week. If we can make the most of our chances in front of goal we’re a chance. I want to see 6.1 not 1.6 on the scoreboard.

Laverde and Mckernan are great ins. Both will lead to the footy.

Side lacks a little polish missing Orazio but still, hopefully with the talls Walla can play small and get on the end of a few.

Imagine if we could get Walla’s kicking techinque on some of our taller marking options

Só do we put work into Martin?

It will probably go to Zaharakis if he doesnt kick a goal and have 30 disposals.
