I was thinking of the famous trade between Hawthorn and Essendon where we exchanged Salmon for Barnard. It got me thinking about how that would have blown up social media (if it was around), back in the day.
Is there any other historical trades that the club has made that would have blown up blitz, if it was around back then?

Did they turn out to be any good ???
Even trading out Ridley and Delaney for Freo’s start up picks wouldn’t have gone down well.

I’d say Wanganeen for picks 2 and 25 would have lit this place up.
Heffernan and Bomford never felt like a good return for Brownlow medallist
Edit: We got pick 5 (McCalister) and 28 (J.Johnson) for Scott Cummings the same year, which actually seems like a much better trade.

Just discovered an awesome website with all historical trades.
We fleeced Adelaide for Wellman. Pick 45 and the bloke they drafted played 2 games.
I always thought Wellman was part of the Salmon / Jarman trade.
Just looking it up now, and he kind of was. Seems like a complex three way trade where we essentially ended up with Barnard and Wellman for salmon, which was how I remembered it. But it seems there was a bit more to it.

In assuming Smith there is Joel Smith, who played most of his footy at Hawthorn.
Rounds that whole deal out nicely in some ways.
Yeah, Joel Smith and Aussie Jones.
For the best FF of the modern era.
This would have blown up blitz in a good way.
Absolutely fleeced the chickens here
Pick 3 for 2 blokes that just played in a reserves flag

How has noone yet mentioned the trade that got us Lloyd and Lucas?
Worked out for both teams in the end but it would’ve rustled some blitz jimmies
