HOT TAKES

Red Rooster have the country’s best chips!!

We should all be working a three day week of 12 hours per day with four days off for the same pay. Employers could then look to employ an entirely new workforce for the next three days if they so desired and have only Sunday as a nominated weekend.

The Premier teams from the VFL, SANFL and WAFL should take the place of the bottom team in the comp on a three year rotation starting with the oldest comp, the SANFL, then the VFL then the WAFL. This allows them time to settle their lists at the AFL level and be competitive by their second year. If at the end of the third year they are not bottom, they stay until they are.

Only if he could be placed in one of those old fashioned dunking booths and instead of water it was filled with acid, or maybe water filled with piranhas or something along those lines.

Drastically reduce the salary cap and lower admission prices accordingly.

Players should receive a set wage of, say, $100k a year. Still generous for part time work.

Even allow three “marquee” players on $120k.

Draftees on first contract: $70k.

Encourage players to be more well-rounded humans without a sole focus on one thing. Develop a career through study for after your playing days and still earn very handy coin relative to society. Work part time. Drop training loads.

The game has become worse the longer it has been played. Revert to the golden age.

If you don’t want to be paid “that little”, do something else. How much did Coleman receive? Reynolds? The Danihers? Can anyone name a player from the last two decades or so that will rank amongst the greats from days gone by? and then think about how much they earned while they were playing.

Somebody else will take your spot if you need more than that to kick a ball around.

That sounds ■■■■.

Playing professional footy has always been about living the dream.

Admissions dont drive salaries anyways. Watching the best on TV and the advertising dollar does.

And watch NRL, soccer and basketball clubs poach every single player.

They’re welcome to them.

$ doesn’t equal talent or good football.

It’s a pretty close match for talent.

I agree talent doesn’t mean good games.
But you would see an absolute exodus. It’s madness to pretend otherwise.

I’m not pretending otherwise. However, how much did Coleman receive?

Tim Watson?

Tony Modra, even?

Thruppence hapenny

Which is plenty in 2019 money.
But totally besides the point, they got enough that they weren’t going to be poached by another sport which was only paying tuppence happeny

dingus this is the HOT TAKES thread not the DUMB IDEAS thread

Couple of holes in your proposal there
If the players are getting 100k each who gets the rest of the TV rights money? Do we donate it to the farmers? Go read literally any criticism of the NCAA for more detail.
Are the “somebody elses” taking spots just as good as players as the ones who they’re replacing? How on earth would that increase the quality of the comp?

The same outcome you want (well-rounded humans) can be achieved by raising the draft age to 21.

Probably because they take so much coke that they are dreaming most of the time.

The worst thing about this post is that it’s not even close to the worst idea posted. Some absolute barry crockers.

Get rid of the “In the Back” rule

IN fact make all rules relating to tackling technique as similar to Rugby as possible, but keep the shoulder charge.
