Pretty sure its just pronounced “Mick-Cluggage” : I agree that McCluggage will have no problems adjusting to a higher level, for some reason I still prefer Brodie with our no.1, may end up being a case of who tests better at the combine as far as endurance, speed etc. is concerned.
But wish we had sidebum as wellThat draft so strong!
What would the draft order be in retrospect?
I love a challenge:
- Hurls
- Hanners
- Sidebum
- Sloane
- Beams
- NicNat
- Shuey
- Ziebell
- Zaka
- Walters
Bias much?

On what they’ve produced over the course of their careers to date balanced a bit with the importance/difficulty of their role I’d go:
- Hannerbery
- Sloane
- Hurley
- Beams
- Sidebottom
- Shuey
- Nic Nat
- Walters
- Ziebell
- Zaka

Rockliff was overlooked in the national draft, and was picked up in the preseason draft. Breust and Sam Jacobs went in the rookie draft and would have stronger claims than Zaka.

Absolutely. Was just going by the list above and hadn’t looked any further
For those worried

Yes far too biased with Hurls I know!
Missed the non-national draft boys. Rockliff clearly slots into top 5 and Bruest slots in before Walters. I’m not a big wrap for Jacobs but can see why some would be.
Put them against the wall, and start picking.
You pick Hurley over Sloane every day of the week, and you could make an argument against Hannebery as well.
AA key position players are very hard to find.

Agree. Take the KP gun every day.
It’s a vintage year, that’s for sure
Go for the multiple picks in the top 10 I’m hating the pressure of number 1 pick already. Trade for 4 and 6 after Prestia trade goes through.
4 ainsworth
6 mcgrath.
1, 38 for 4, 6 omeara. 2x if you’re nice gcs. get some.
joining deckham on the mcgrath hype train as well.
if we trade 1 for 2 picks in top 10 and manage to keep 19 for battle or something, discos won the draft.
Isn’t there already a thread for treating pick 1 like a hot potato?

Barnz on the full blown multi thread Ainsworth campaign.
Watched him today at Carlton because a family friend was playing against his team, he's good, but I'm really not sure if he's PICK 1 good. Perhaps why he isn't the clear number 1 like recent years! He farking is the clear favourite for pick 1!
If it was any other team with pick one this year then he would be a Judd/Ablett JR love child.
I think a lot of people just want to convince themselves that McCluggage is the clear number 1 so that theres an out and out star we’ll be getting. I don’t see it that way just yet. I have seen McGrath and Ainsworth play too when watching my friend and I can tell you that he isn’t a clear number 1! Id even be leaning towards McGrath. Just because Cal Twomey rattles off stats doesn’t mean its the gospel!
OR the fact that Mcluggage has produced extraordinary numbers consistently…off no pre season either.
McCluggage has the best name to shout at the top of your lungs… with lots of emphasis on clllll and ggggggg… That should really be the deciding factor from a fan perspective.
