Strange Edwards hasn't been mentioned and we haven't even given him a game yet.
Why is it strange? He couldn't get a game for GWS last year despite being available for selection all year. He has a lot of work to do before he gets a game and lives up to the hype.
So, Winders comes in for Zach. Who goes out for Melksham?
I don't think you can drop Jackson Merrett or Gleeson. Hardingham and Ambrose are playing important structural roles. Melksham may have to bide his time.

it should just start cutting and pasting.
Edwards missed time before Christmas due to a family illness, as a result he is 3 weeks behind in his program and ruled him out of NAB cup. So would not be considered available for senior selection until this week. As it is, there are now a few in front of him.

No obvious candidates are there. Howlett perhaps but that'd be pretty stiff. He'll have to force his way in dominating in VFL or wait for an opportunity through injury.

Melksham is an auto in by the coaches, so he will come in straight away.
Who knows who for, atm you'd say he would fit into the role Howlett is playing more than anyone else, as you mention those other players are playing different roles, alas that doesn't really mean anything, as they are more than likely going to play Melk ahead of either of those 3 players you mention, and will shuffle the side around accordingly.
Also is it worth risking Ryder this week against Carlton ?
Should be able to beat them without him, and if push came to shove you'd rather he be right for Freo raher than carlton, so do you rest him and back in the 22 on sunday night, or do you risk Ryder ?

Edwards does the flashy stuff well, but his contested ball work, tackling and defensive efforts are well short of AFL standard. I don't think we will see him in the seniors at all this year, but he has the talent to make a go of it and become a long-term prospect. I think he's a similar type to Hampton at GWS, who has the makings of a very good player.

C'mon, Melksham will be straight back in. If not then it's a major shift in selection policy, he's not called the rusted-on-fridge-magnet for nothing.
I know it's hard to drop anyone after we put in a good performance, surely there's a few blokes thinking their number is up when Melks is ready to go.
The fact is Melksham is a better player than Jerret, Zerret, Gleeson and would be better than Ambrose & Hardingham depending on the position to be filled. We don't mess around against Carlton, Melksham will be an automatic inclusion.
Christ we seem to have a lot of midfielders don't we? As in quality midfielders, that deserve to keep their spots.

Melksham is obviously in this week. Winderlich should come in for Merrett, and although I'm not pleased with the fact that Dempsey has an injury, at least it gives Gleeson the opportunity to consolidate his spot in the side, and he's shown that he can surpass Dempsey in the near future. I'm thinking, Gleeson on Garlett and Baguely on Yarran.
