Injury Updates (Part 1002)

Al mate- you’re back again after another and another suspension. You’re the ultimate recidivist.

Why are we?

Do any other clubs let opposition coaches attend their open training sessions?

Im actually not sure lol

Pretty sure he is a player development role anyway, he has nothing to do with game planning or scouting.

I think @alex.f.94 should be on the gate at The Hangar scrutinising these Heppell types

I don’t think that really matters.

Bulldogs don’t seem to like it.

hepp will be helping pies’ players, particularly the younger ones, as best he can develop their footy, but come Anzac day the pies know he’ll be quietly wanting a red 'n black victory.

What is Hepp going to pass onto the pies from a training session? Do we honestly think anything from our gameplan has changed from when he was playing?

“You know how we normally hit targets by foot? It seems Essendon don’t do that. Is that worth trying?”

It’s the optics.

If we were a serious club we would have made it clear he shouldn’t be there. If heppell was serious about his role he wouldn’t be there either.

Guarantee you in a year or two time he will return to the EFC in a coaching role of some description hence why he was there.

My best guess right now re injured/managed players its something like this;-

Martin - season

Hayes/Jones - 6 weeks

Edwards/Setters/Kako - 4 weeks

Bryan/Ridley/Perkins/Robey - 2 - 3 weeks

Is this when they will be back in full training or when they will be able to play (if there was a game).

Because Edwards and Bryan would still be 8-10 weeks away from being able to play a game.

Was thinking when they’d be available for selection- seniors or reserves. So Edwards and Bryan unavailable for selection until mid-late April you reckon?

Bryan himself confirmed he won’t be allowed to aim for a return for round 1.

Round 1 only ~4 weeks away so seems like Bryan is a 6 - 7 week proposition then

Re @Vass48 I think it’s more like this

Ridley - 2 weeks (club being ultra conservative)
Bourke - 2 or 3 weeks
Perkins - 3 weeks
Kako - 3 weeks
Robey - 3 weeks
Edwards - 4 or 5 weeks
Setterfield - 5 or 6 weeks
Jones - 5 or 6 weeks
Bryan - 6 to 8 weeks
Hayes - 12 to 16 weeks

What’s wrong with Perkins? Is he still hampered by last years groin injury @Begbie

Also, things can change but it appears taking Setterfield will end up being an opportunity missed for a young kid or otherwise on the list.

Setterfield, Perkins and to a lesser extend Ridley are all back in full training though?

I’m not sure what it was but he was only able to run like Cliff Young (in other words shuffling) in December. He’s only recently started running properly and got his power back as those who have seen my video of him this week will know.

Actually I just posted the video on X so all can see:
