Injury Updates

Hind, Dambrosio, Snelling and Tippa for Parish, Setterfield, Sheil and Kelly. With a bit of reshuffling it’s doable although lose some pace.

That conclusion for Kelly is nasty.

You think our revolving door of injuries is about to cease? Where do you find such optimism?

Setterfield is important, but I think he’ll be overtaken next season.
Think of the Will Brodie path.
This time last year we wished we had him. Now he’s a fringe player stuck between AFL and WAFL.

Yeah, was disappointed with Setterfield from Anzac Day onwards. Rather keep putting Caldwell and Hobbs in those centre bounces over him.

I think I read that he is symptom free and feeling fine to play, but his confidence has been shaken a bit and he and the club are seeking as much information as possible about long terms impact etc.

As soon as Kelly was feeling comfortable then he will clear himself to play (paraphrasing)

Won’t be shocked if he pulls the pin at season’s end. He seems more aware of the potential problems than the McCartin brothers.

I’m only clicking if you also have vids on how to boil water and how to sit in a chair without missing and falling on your arsse.

i reckon if we ever have a fully fit list (lol) the last 2 spots in the best 22 would be very very tight and someone like caldwell, hobbs or menzie could be unlucky enough to find themself in the sub vest.

i suspect scott’s whiteboard best 22 is this

Kelly Zerk Lav
mcgrath rids redman

martin parish durham
draper merrett setterfield

perkins weid shiel
stringer 2mp langford

hepp caldwell hobbs guelfi - menzie/tippa

but i could easily see caldwell or hobbs sliding into the vest in favour of another permanent small forward.

You just gotta play Hobbs at all costs.
He seems to be the most footballer of any of our footballers.

Wait for the currently non-injured players to get injured.

  1. Place the water in a safely heatable receptacle and then place the receptacle over a heat source
  2. Look behind you, ensure there is a chair present, and correct its orientation as required, then slowly lower your posterior in the direction of the seat of the chair.

Thanks, but what do I do if the chair moves because it doesn’t want my arse on it?

Agreed. The list is starting to look to compliment each other. See 2000. Tough nuts, silky movers etc. I like the combinations coming through.

I have thought that deciding on our best 22 was too hard, but that’s a pretty decent job. You’ve reminded me that you are one of the best judges of our players on Blitz.

What do you think of Cox as the potential replacement for Kelly in the short or long term, and if Tsatas comes on quickly enough to establish himself this season who do you think he pushes out?

I think there is also a chance that ADJ will make a case for himself this year, and Baldwin may also make a case for himself for KP defender.

Something that the Sunday made clear to me is that our number of injuries is restricting the development of even our fit AFL players in the VFL because it makes it harder to replicate our game style in the VFL and practice particular roles. On Sunday there were only 8 AFL listed players:

Baldwin, Cox (off at 3/4 time), Voss, Wanganeen, Hayes, Lord, Montgomerie and Munkara. With 12 players missing both games.

With no AFL midfielders, replicating a game and preparing our players for a senior role style is more difficult. No wonder Lav and Guelfi played West Coast with one only having played part of a VFL game and the other none. It accelerated their readjustment to the AFL much more effectively than the alternative.

Hope that’s correct re Tsatas, we have all been waiting a long time to see him play.

There were a few posters saying Tsatas may play VFL this weekend.
