why… why did you do that to Balders.
Shocking news, hopefully a quick recovery.
Headline of young bombers tall defender sidelined with stress fracture had me thinking the worst though…
Best 22 just got easier unfortunately
We had pretty good depth in KP stocks, and now that’s going to be needed with Hunter and Balders done for the season.
Both injury prone projects and I really feel for them as they’d shown really promising signs. I thought Baldwin to take Laverde’s spot this season (if that was still a best 22 spot).
Interesting to see us train the defender who was at Collingwood from the VAFA. Suspect we sign a KPP in the SSP this weekend or mid-season draft.
Sorry
No way they would cut him, absolutely no way
I feel for him, but he was always a stretch to make it at AFL level.
Not tall enough to be a KPD (2MP proved that) and not fast enough to play on the smaller types. Most people think he should be in instead of Laverde, but Lav is more flexible as he can play on smaller players.
I hope he can make it back and prove me wrong, but I don’t see that happening after missing such a big chunk of the season. Like Hunter, will be lucky to get a contract extension.
If given a proper shot he will make it.
He showed more then adequate form when he played in the ones last year, for some strange reason though Scott didnt really give him a go.
Ummm……back by mid April doesn’t seem to be a “big chunk of the season”!
It is when you effectively undo all the hard work done during pre-season. Stringer missed the same amount of pre-season last year and struggled to recapture any fitness. For someone on the fringe, this is not ideal.
He didn’t play on any quality forwards except Joe D who kicked a bag.
Why does he have to play on the best forwards? Like you said he isnt key position height. His strengths as a player dont come from stopping the key position forwards.
Also, would not put him in the same category as one of the least professional players in the league in maintaining fitness during an injury.
Kane will be in the pool and on the bike most days id imagine.
If he does make it back within 6-8 weeks he wont have lost too much fitness.
Where is this reported Baldwin mid April?
I didn’t see it anywhere.
The only bit of information from the club was cautiously written and pretty non-comittal.
When has laverde had a good record playing on smaller players? I reckon you’ve got that one completely wrong. He’s terrible below his knees and has the turning circle of a truck. One of the least agile players on our list
He has been asked to play on the big forwards which has never been his go. I hold some hope he may improve a bit being that third tall
Look at the Essendon website articl and if you then do the calculation and add on a couple of weeks you’ll get to mid April.
I hope they aren’t doing much running and jumping in that hanger either.
So what position does he play? He is too slow for the mid sized players and too small for the bigger players!
I don’t mean the Charlie Cameron’s, I mean the Jack Darling’s and Charlie Curnow’s. He has played well on them previously because he has enough speed and strength to match them.
