No doubt you will have recieved plenty of emails regarding the Essendon Saga and the requests for a inquiry into the whole mess, i support this and truly believe it needs to be done.
However my email is more about James Hird, he is a tremendous gentlemen whom i have had the pleasure of meeting only once but was extremely blessed to watch him play Aussie Rules for my football club Essendon.
Recent events and the following media attention has prompted me to call upon you all to take a stand and support this man and his family.
The last 4 years have driven him to what appears to be despair, his family and himself abused, vilified, condemned and harrassed beyond the realm and yet we still see the media circus camped outside his house using images of his wife, children even the flower delivery guy.
Make it public that you dont support this sort of media interaction, call them out and challenge them to be more socially responsible. In a world of keyboard warriors, blatant disregard for others and a slighted social consciousness action needs to be taken and a strong, united and considered response from our elected members can be a start.
Like James i am a 43 year old father of 4 beautiful children, and although our lives have traveled in very different paths i feel that he has so much more to offer his wife, children and us.
Please defy convention and stand up for what is right, change what is seen as acceptable.
There is always an embarrassing drunk at a Christmas party. She clearly worked up enough liquid courage to reveal her true colours and now she’ll have to live with the consequences of the choice she made that night. Guilt can destroy a person’s soul.
I have to agree that the identity of the judge’s wife is irrelevant.
She’s not even a ■■■■ on the chess board.
She could have been any one of hundreds of thousands of people conditioned to hate James Hird.
She could have been someone I know.
She could have been someone you know.
However devastating and disgraceful her personal attack may have been, she’s not the villain. She’s the product of evil, not the source.

Can we be 100% sure it actually is Dessau before we rush out and grab the pitch forks, please?It can’t be that hard… It was in public. There have been posts on here by people who seem to have known about it - If it isn’t Dessau they just need to say “not her”. If anyone knows they can say… “it was … (allegedly)” or “a source close to someone who attended the party told me it was…” Two common ways for the media to get their message across!
I would love to know who it was so that my feelings of disrespect and dislike can be aimed at the right person… Why the ■■■■ should she be protected?sigh

Because it’s a sideshow. Because there’s a lot of people at AFL House and at the corner of Spencer and collins who’d LOVE EFC fans to hunt this woman down, especially if we got it wrong and accuse the wrong person and they can run with a sob story about how she got persecuted by EEEVIL delusional and probably sexist Cult of Hird members. If they can get people talking about her rather than the YEARS of circumstances that led to this point, they’ll be rapt.
Whoever this person is, she probably got her information from the AFL accredited media and from their AFL puppeteers. Focus the blame where it belongs - with the evil ■■■■■ at AFL, Fairfax, and SEN - not on some ill-informed numpty who got half-cut on red at a christmas party and acted like a tool.
Do you reckon the Essendon Board would know? There are people on BB who are very close to board members who would know - I don’t want speculation, I want to know who the person was who humiliated James Hird in front of other people at a xmas party. If it was caroline wilson we would have no problem naming her… Why can’t we know who this person is?

This person is adult enough to think for themselves. It’s their responsibility to choose the right path. They chose to have a big mouth to embarrass someone in public…that’s on them.
I think focusing on the identify of the “wife of a judge” is a mistake. Far more destructive things have been done to Hird (even by his own club).
The three Hird sons now play soccer. :(That is tragic.

Like everyone, I love our club and hirdy and I could think of nothing better than have one of his boys build on the great Hird legacy at the EFC.
If the Hird family are truely lost to football then it is absolutely a tragedy and it makes me feel sick to my stomach.
It also makes more determined to see that karma comes to those corrupt officials who made this great man a scapegoat.
Get a grip.

I’ve made a complaint against channel 7 for sharing the time of phone call, nature of incident and name of the person involved regarding the ambulance called to Hird’s property. I believe this to be an invasion of a person’s medical privacy.
Jim, Tania and the Hird family have conducted themselves throughout this episode impeccably. They have set a standard for all of us, a standard we should now adopt. Let me make a few comments.
- In times of great negativity, it is important to be positive. Collectively we can turn things around for Jim and for for his family.
- We need an inquiry in a proper forum to deal with the multiple issues raised by this saga. A Senate inquiry is the best course of action at present. The J34 group has presented enough material to be disseminated to others, but we need the 6300+ signatures to become 600,000. And we need politicians to know that it is in the national interest for such an inquiry. It is now time to engage those who have previously sat on the fence. There is some traction emerging but we need as many signatures as possible, and as many letters to politicians as possible.
- As we all know, the saga has been dominated by trial by media. A number of us have tried to get the Press Council to look at it, but as most of you are aware it is a toothless regulator. Yesterday I wrote to the ABC’s Media Watch again to suggest a program on the saga early in the year. I suggest you consider doing the same.
- There is so much information on the Blitz about the role of the media that I hope that a group might get together, document the information so that it can form the basis of a documentary Trial by Media. I know there are people on this site who have access to documentary makers who may like to start working towards that. I think the SBS would be interested.
- If anyone has information that the AFL specifically directed any employer not to employ James Hird, I suggest they consider approaching either the Victorian or Commonwealth Ombudsman to make a protected disclosure.
- The Club has disappointed a lot of people over this matter. It is not the time for the Club to be making public statements, but I do believe the club should now develop a strategy to fully restore and indeed enhance the reputation of James Hird. It is very important for the future of the Essendon Football Club, and more importantly to everyone’s sense of natural fairness.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 1973 as its youngest law graduate. She worked as a solicitor from 1974 to 1978, and as a barrister from 1979 to 1995, specialising in family law and commercial litigation.She is one of five Jewish people to have served in a viceregal capacity in Australia, after Queensland governor Sir Matthew Nathan, New South Wales governor Gordon Samuels and governors-general Sir Isaac Isaacs and Sir Zelman Cowen.[8]
Since 1982, Dessau has been married to Tony Howard, a judge of the County Court of Victoria.

We should be throwing pies at journalists, we should be calling every radio station and dropping the c bomb 100 times on air until they do a proper investigation. You are right you can’t graft brains onto or into monuments. Staying off social media right now is a smart thing to do.I can't believe the people that post awful comments out there. I thought it was bad during the saga and Jobe's brownlow. I was wrong.Noting else matters to me except the health and wellbeing of my biggest idol growing up. Out of principal I have stopped reading any general public comments below any media articles about Hird. I learnt my lesson with the Jobe Brownlow incident. I didn’t realise how many low life scum people exist out there, mostly supporters of other clubs. I’ve had many a social media battles with them but you might as well beat your head against a brick wall because you can’t educate moronic imbeciles. I’m so outraged to even think about what’s being said about Hirdy by these oxygen thieves. As soon as I heard about what happened to Hird, I came straight here to Blitz to get some solace from the media garbage out there. Thank you my fellow Blitzers it’s nice to come to a place with like minded persons and read mostly supportive comment on Hird’s situation (apart from the isolated troll that is usually sorted very quickly). My example is showing how pointless it is to play fair against an enemy that does anything but.

Fair enough if it was average Joe bagging Hird at a party. But if the name that has been suggested/alleged is correct, that person needs to be held to account given the roles that she has held in the past present and future.
