James Hird — January 2017 onwards (Part 1)

They sure did

And BTW Hird has done many things over the past decade which are very impressive given what he has endured.

Nothing that really adds to his resume for a senior coach role.

In fact the things he has done related to AFL in that time probably diminish his resume further.

A few part time roles here and there with no success.

I get the ‘what he has endured’ argument. But you don’t give a bloke the job because he has done some part time work while recovering from trauma.

Again, that aspect makes him less compelling again.

Scott didn’t even apply. How does that work?

They didn’t like any other the actual applicants so someone approaches him. Or did the AFL tell us to take him because he no longer had a job in the ivory tower.

Hirdy had some success as coach, he’s just as qualified as Scott IMO. Another lost opportunity

Goodness me.

Of course he can do two things at once, but doing trade radio every day until mid October is a good indication he is not currently politicking his way to coach again.

With a better win/loss ratio, too.

Uh huh.

Blockquote

Yet on the flip, flip side the only coach ANYONE has wanted to get behind, pre, post and during saga.

So there’s that too hey.

The most stupid thing about this club - and still this site it would seem - is no one can see a good thing when they’ve got it. And when they do it gets ripped apart from ■■■■■■■■ to breakfast.

Those that go the man and not the club STILL over Needlefest 2013 can go multiply in the great beyond as far as im involved, and those that double down on Hird got dropped on the head as a toddler.

Meaning you’re probably qualified for a run at the board, so at least your timings good.

It would be interesting to ask the players from Hird’s tenure how he rated compared to their other coaches. I don’t care who is our coach as long as the players will run through walls for him and he can actually, you know, coach

disclaimer: Not Sam Mitchell though.

Quality rant.

There’s been dozens of coaches that players have clearly played for in the AFL in the past couple of decades, we’ve just been incompetent and unable to hire any of them.

And I’ve always said that.

They’re both failed coaches and I wouldn’t have either of them

I’ve never heard you say blockquote in my life.

I had to cease. There was some… Unpleasantness

Dropped on the head or not , it’s pretty straightforward for me. Anyone who held key football department positions in that period should not be holding key football departments at the club again.

Oh, and your first version of your post was interesting…
