True, but with all the lurks & perks Brissie get, I could coach them.
And, more seriously, we was an assistant in the system.

What was the win/loss for Hird before the saga began? Just curious.
2011, he coached 11 wins, 10 losses, and 1 draw for a 50.0% win rate; in 2012, 11 wins, 10 losses, and 1 draw for a 50.0% win rate
2011 - 11/10 and a draw. 2012 - 11/11. 2013 14/8.
Brad Scott
28-1-40 , 41.3%
Id still prefer him to Brad.
I dont believe Brad can coach to save his life.
Hird with strong assistants from good clubs would be much better than what we currently have.
Different issue. I was responding to the claim Hird should not be coach because of the SAGA
Hird hasn’t coached for 10 years. If we can’t find a better candidate than him I’ll join the gym!
Scott was the only better candidate last time. Just sayin’
The club and all its little factions and media leaks is nothing short of cancerous.
It’s a career destroyer. Think Knights, Worsfold, Rutten and the subject of this thread.
The fact Scott wants to stick around is pretty staggering in itself. But not as staggering as the suggestion of Hird, with what the club has put him through over the last decade and the impact on his physical and mental health, would even want the role.
We well and truly overrate just how prestigious this role actually is.
Better? Or the one Barham preferred?
I reckon Hird was overline….but the AFL called Barham and said no…take this guy (Brad)
Until we stop being bent over by the AFL we will be nowhere.
You can’t be serious?
Full nuffie ■■■■ right there.
That’s a dollar to John McEnroe haha
If Hird was serious about taking on the EFC head coach role he should go and do the work as an assistant to clubs that play and win finals now, if Geelong would have him it’d be ideal, but they probably won’t. And I’m not naive enough to think that there are clubs lining up to have him as an assistant or that he’s young enough that he can afford to spend 5-6 year as an assistant at other clubs proving he is capable of being head coach.
Woosh about 42%.
Bomber about 52%.
Hird about 48%.
Knights about 37%.
Sheeds about 61%.
Davis about 45%.
Stephen about 36%.
Tuddy about 52%.
Birt about 18%.
Clarke about 50%.
Coleman about 68%.
Reynolds about 66%.
Reynolds and Coleman stand out as champions who played for the club and went on to become successful coaches, who had the charisma and character to inspire those around them. After them Sheeds came in and seemed to have a fairly good grasp of the reality that is still true today, being that the internal politics of the club is one of the biggest limiting factors to winning premierships. He was not an Essendon person and didn’t have respect for people just because they were Essendon people. He also told fans and supporters that they were going to have to relearn what it meant to be Essendon people. And I believe we’re back in the same hole and we are going to need someone to take every single one of us by the scruff of the neck and tell us to buck up. I doubt that’s going to be Brad, but I equally doubt it’s Hird.
Agreed. If Hird wants his redemption story then he needs to go dig in at getting some real coaching credentials to reverse the narrative on his last blundered stint. I don’t mind the Port Melbourne start, but it’s gotta be built on from there.
Stop sitting around waiting for romantic eyed Essendon members to parachute him into the top role
I don’t know about him coaching at VFL level other than if he’s treating it like getting insight from other coaches who’ve been in the AFL system, outside of that it kind of comes off like a lack of confidence. He should be at an AFL club.
