James Hird - survivor

With all the current talk of game plan it made me think that the last time we had a real obvious game plan and Essendon brand of football was under Hirdy, he got quite a lot out of a list that was quite a bit inferior to what we have had in 2017-2020

I think we forget that he was actually really good at the coaching game

I forget many things but I never forgot this.

That was a pretty good list Hirdy had.

I think the problem was the midfield outside of Watson was quite weak, and the forward line was very reliant on Crameri.

With peak Daniher and Fantasia and a midfield with the potential of Merrett, Shiel, Heppell, McGrath and Parish (I know they are under performing at the moment but the point was Hird got the most out of his players)

If we were on the verge before round 17 2013, which I think we where, I would have backed hird and dodoro to go looking or drafting to sort that side of it out.

But who knows. Delollio was getting a game, so who knows.

Agreed, and we had just drafted Joey so the team was definitely on the improve
