Hirdy was one of the smartest players to ever play the game, and his ability to put that into writing is second to none. A column such as this is the ideal way for him to integrate back into football. As much as it appears the AFL played a hand in James not getting a radio gig at SEN, from where he was at personally talkback radio is most definitely the last place you’d want for him to be, given what the peanut gallery would likely say to him. I’m just glad he has something that allows him to be in touch with the game. In time he should be back on television, and he would be a worthy addition to whichever network employs him.
