Joe Daniher. Gone

Or the club that wants him trying to make it seem like he only wants them. Or even the media making things up because they want to be the first in with the news.

It is the manager and prospective club trying to look after his client and ensure he gets to his desired destination with as little damage to the prospective club as possible.

Or someone making things up like they always do. You don’t know it’s the manager at all. Might be any or all reasons.

In hindsight everything is a fuckup

The last paragraph is interesting for me. I’d say this favors a 1st round compo as that is what most of the footy industry think Joe is worth.

Compensation

A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

  1. The new contract of the free agent;
  2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result

Your spot on. But Joe will not walk and leave Essendon with nothing.

There have been deals discussed where Joe goes to Sydney.

Sydney get Joe + 7
Essendon get 3 + 22. (as it stands)

Sydney would not take him without trading due to the risk associated with him breaking down.

A Lot of this depends on whether Essendon could secure Logan McDonald in the draft with pick 3, who at this stage they would be happy to do a straight swap with Joe, that’s how highly they rate McDonald. They will try to get an idea of whether North will take McDonald. The thinking is they will with Brown leaving.

If Essendon don’t do anything stupid, then Joe wants to be respectful.

Connected to the big giraffe?

You only joined an hour ago, and have all this inside info. Are you Xavier Menzies?

(Thanks for the info btw!)

Id say, given that Joe is leaving, and given that there will be a negotiation, it is fair to assume it is jostling from the concerned parties to increase their hand.

It is comforting to think it is all made up, but highly unlikely.

So blessed to get all this inside information

Interesting. Based on the assumption that Crouch doesnt get band 1 you would think one of the two key forwards will be available.

I’ve floated in and out of this forum for years. I’ll write a few posts and you can suit yourself. I understand as a new poster with “inside info” i’ll cop it.

Well welcome back mate, the more people here the better

I don’t suppose you’ve got any info on why players are so unhappy?

As long as you’re not Bernie Tomic then it’s all good!

Maybe Sydney have lowballed Joe and he is using Brisbane as a way of getting Sydney to up their pay offer

Which is good for us from a compensation pick perspective

Adelaide want Riley Thilthorpe. North are the only club that could trip us up with McDonald in that hypothetical situation.

Can see North taking Hollands if available too
