John Worsfold - will not get a new contract in 2021

I reckon with all that is going on, keeping Woosha for an extra year has turned out to be a pretty good decision.

So your analogy is ?that Essendon never sacked a coach before .

Your grasp of the actual meaning of an analogy is akin to the old saying “a fish in the hand before you leap across the lazy fox”.

And, no, Malthouse didn’t say that.

Mate, he’s a retired doctor, he thought it was an allergy.

We would not have saved any money whatsoever, as the club would still have had to pay him out.

We would have lost money as the payout would be the full salary and presumably because he’s stayed on during COVID he’s taken a pay cut this year.

Alluded to the fact that he has handed over more to Rutten earlier than expected. Realised that he didn’t want the players to second guess what messages would be coming from whom, so pretty much from a game plan perspective that it is Truck.

Haha snap. Just posted the same in the review thread!

Interesting that Ben is the match day coach.

By whom?

I wasn’t a fan of the handover thing… but I like how its panned out. Seems to me (from the outside) that essentially truck and cara are handling the ‘footy’ side of coaching… with Woosha handling the admin side (press, communication, overall group dynamics)… so that would appear to be working well.

Basically gives Truck a year essentially at the helm but without the media scrutiny and workload. If you read about how that almost brought Thompson undone in his early days at Geelong… and it has dragged many good coaches down… I can see the logic.

I’ve never given Woosha much credit but the way he has handled this year, thus far, is a big tick. Has seemingly got out of the way altogether on the side he is most lacking… tactics, match day etc… and has made the transition work. Kudos from this doubter.

May this be a sign of the club unity to come.

We’ve got up against two bottom six sides by a goal each. Let’s see some serious matches before we start whacking him off.

I wont be doing that no matter how many games he wins

Suns, Saints, and Dockers were all bottom six last year. Two of those teams had thumping wins against finalists, and the other pushed the team that finished 2nd to within 2 goals away from home.

I really don’t think last years ladder positions mean a pinch of ■■■■ this season, especially this early in a fkd up pre-season/early season. So let’s not downplay our wins just yet - they could turn out to be pretty good wins.

Having said that - you’re right, it’s far too early to be stimulating any of our coaches’ genitalia.

Adelaide had a similar game w/ the swans in round 1 and were flogged next game. Freo were controlled by Brisbane.

Formlines say we are a fair way off the pace and pretty much around the midtable irrelevance of the last few years.
