John Worsfold - will not get a new contract in 2021

LOL. Please let us believe for a while before crushing our dreams.

You’ve already sacked Rutten?!?!

No was referring to when the club announced the succession plan

It’s just mass delusion though.

People are angry at Xav for extending Wooshas contract based on him sharing his values and appreciating Woosha as a leader. Whilst totally ignoring the actual coaching bit and not doing a proper review/process.

For Rutten, Xav appointed a coach based on his leadership and values without doing a proper recruitment process.

Why are we banking that Xav is right this time? Can anyone point to something Rutten has done that points to him being the next great coach? I’ve read articles where he talks about the kind of leader he wa ts to be, ive read posts on here where we are assuming the kind of coach he is. But where’s the evidence?

I’d heard he was great at developing young key position talent. He’s had Francis and Zerk for 3 years now, but they are no closer to pushing out Hooker and Hurley who we all recognise are barely playing.

bit harsh in the last paragraph. Only been here 1.5 seasons

12 months hardly anytime to measure a new untried coach be fair I’d say after 3 seasons judge how he is

lol don’t ruin his bias by presenting facts

Is this fact he didn’t want the job Cara?

Cara is on record as saying he wasn’t ready to coach, but that wasn’t in relation to coming to Essendon. However when we appointed Rutten Cara wasn’t even coaching for us, he had only agreed to come across as an assistant.

It’s not my bias my end. I know nothing really about Ruttem or why he will be a good coach. I’ve only heard he’s a good leader and communicator, which sure are attributes of being a good coach but the detail is light on.

It’s a real question why is Rutten the right coach to take us forward? If he is then brilliant. I’ve just never heard or read why. I’ve only read the coach people want him to be rather than actually is.

You had a go at him for having Zerk and Francis for 3 years and hasn’t done anything with them yet, but he hasn’t been at the club for that long so your premise is a little bit faulty. You are essentially writing him off before he has even had a go.

I promise you Rutten will cop it if we are three years into his coaching career, and we have still made zero progress. If he was in charge of that rabble last night then we are absolutely doomed.

This is his third year here isn’t it? Unless I’ve lost it.

But I’m probably coming off wrong, I didn’t intend to pot him, he does deserve time. But I do think everyone is just assuming he’s a master coach, which is actually the question I don’t why they are assuming it at this point.

He was.

From what I’m observing it looks like Woosha is fronting the press and sitting on the bench. It’s Rutten in the box, running training and leading the breaks. Rutten is coaching now.

signed after the 18 season

Defensive Coach last year.

Head coach now.

2020 just feels like 3 seasons in one

Huh well there you go.

I thought he has been an assistant for two years.

If the club thought worsfold wasn’t a right fit for senior coach, why is he still involved in anything at all.

Just make a clean break and be done with it.

So the fans yell at him providing cover for Rutten.

Xav has brought the footy department a year of grace. All anger is going to be directed at Woosha, maybe Zaka and TBC.

Then viola next year, they will say it’s a transition year and we need to be patient.

Then we are well and truly, completely and utterly farked.

I wanted Caracella for what it is worth. I think he was the best possible candidate that never had a senior coaching job before. But, I just don’t think he wanted it.
