I never thought either of those things.

“It’s been a tough time for Essendon fans” - from the guy whose decisions were very prominent in making the last decade in particular tough. That’s pretty hard to swallow. We mortgaged our future with the 2017-19 drafts, trading out all our draft picks so to build a midfield to kick to this guy, then he gets injured, doesn’t bother to do his rehab, doesn’t bother to work on his goalkicking, and buggers off after a year of blatantly not giving a ■■■■, leaving us to start up yet another rebuild in a year where covid lockdowns have made the draft a fkg game of blindfold darts.

I dunno what demons this guy has been struggling with. I get the feeling he loved footy but hated AFL, and being anointed the chosen one from age 16 was probably very rough on him. He’ll probably sign up to some bush or local league, never train, and just hang around in the goalsquare, having a laugh, taking hangers and kicking bags on blokes who are plumbers doing the week, and have a great time doing it. I can have sympathy for him, but he couldn’t have sabotaged EFC any more comprehensively if he’d deliberately tried. He’s made himself very hard to like, as a fan - not that he has any obligation to give even the tiniest ■■■■ what we think, of course.

Judas. Loafed at our club for 3 years without commitment. Departed and remained relatively injury free for 4 years. Shameful disgrace.

Yes agreed, disappointed to see people give him praise around here.

Royally farked up our club and is one of the reasons we have been as bad as we are now. Took our money and ran away with it while we got nothing back in return, got a flag with his new club and here we are.

You mean other than pick 7?

Happy for him despite the lingering resentment of him leaving us.

Which brings to mind - when was the last time a first year player created genuine excitement and enthusiasm at the Bombers?

Caddy possibly.

I wonder how front loaded Joe Dan’s contract was?

My guess quite a lot(to get us the round 1 compo) and to two ensure the Lions have cap to spare to now reward players. There would be a few looking for pay rises after a premiership win.

McClug would have gotten a good deal, they will probably put a big bag of money in front of Ashcroft to get him across as a Lion for life and probably look to hold onto Rayner.

And have some kitty to go after a younger Daniher replacement.

That club is going to be flush with talent for the next few years. Screams dynasty.

Heard that said about Bulldogs and Melbourne.

Adding the best kid in the draft is a pretty nice position to be in.

Levi won’t dent their cap and if he is like his brother(rumoured to be better) be playing like blokes earning 3 or 4 times the salary.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel for that obscure stat.

The page is called useless afl stats…

Just watched his AFL Essendon highlights reel oct 2020.

Man I missed him when he left.
Won’t say a bad thing about him.

I’ll just remember the good times and what might have been.

Wasn’t there a bit of controversy in that Joe signed a new deal at Brisbane not that long after going up there?
