Great speech as expected Joe.
My thoughts too. Even though he went to our biggest rival, atleast Saad cracked in consistently when he was with us.
Joe can get fked
Interesting that when he left Essendon, and was asked directly, he had nothing to say to the club, his teammates or the fans. I thought not to acknowledge his teammates and the fans, at the very least was poor form. He was certainly well supported by both in his time as a Bomber.
He probably read a match day thread on blitz.
Yes with loving support like he got on hereâŚ
Fair point, the match day threads are no place for anyone expecting balanced comment.
However, there is no doubt the majority of Essendon supporters did in fact support him, and he was a favourite with the kids. I donât think itâs too much to expect that he should have made that acknowledgement at the time.
Just had another round of cancer treatment, should keep me going for a while, top up the tank.
I didnât, but I did think Dan Rioli had a kid
His first game back against the Hawks was fantastic. Was one of the few enjoyable moments of that season!
Iâm still bitter about the way Ryder left. Lying to us on the eve of finals and using the saga as leverage.
I was bitter about how Daniher left us, but over time I grew indifferent to him. It was clearly the better career move for him, and we were a complete basketcase under X and Woosh.
As if the AFL wonât change the rules to smash EFC up the arse againâŚ
Also hope the AFL doesnât exist by then anyway, â â â â em.
I was in the âhappy for Joeââ camp last week.
His time here ended poorly, but he gave us a lot during a period where we were poor (still are I knowâŚ) .
My fav Joe memory will always be his massive over the top reaction to Connor McKennaâs first goal against Richmond.
He also tended to stand up on big occasions and finals.
Always struck me as someone who didnât really want the fame or attention that went with with his status and family name. Hope he finds a bit of peace and quiet in post footy life.
His first goal is also superb. Gets the ball 55m out and wheels around and off three steps roosts it through at post height for a goal. Thought we had a generational forward that night.
I remember. He gently caressed it about 60 meters at Marvel. Made footy look easy sometimes and impossible at others ![]()
The more I talk about Joe, the more I feel better about him.
Ive take the day to think about it, and, fark Judas glad I donât need to see the dopey face no more
Life is too short to be bitter.
As Sato said at the end of Karate Kid 2âŚ
" hate is wrong "
Well done to Joe for going out on his own terms.
Purple touted an impending exodus, but it never happened.
