Jumper numbers for 2022

Would you rather they lied and said they wanted to wear those numbers because of Lachie Dalgleish and Adam McPhee?

Well having seen the 2023 long-sleeve jumper in the AFL Store at Highpoint tonight, he might want to stay away from it. Looks horrific, an abomination. I can’t understand how you can ■■■■ up a pretty simple jumper design but UA have done a damn fine job of it across 2022/23…

The Bombers have handed a huge honour to its top pick in this year’s draft. Elijah Tsatas will wear number 5 in red and black, made famous by Essendon legends James Hird and Terry Daniher……and whipping boys Brent Stanton and Devon Smith!

Exactly my point. Ta.

Old-fashioned?

It only happened in the old days because players came through the 2nds and 3rds at 18 or younger.

Paul Doran and Andy Wilson?
Denis Scanlon and Doug Tassell?
Ty Zantuck and Dylan Van Unen?

Plenty of “kids” played senior footy early in their career when the reserves were a legitimate pathway. Didn’t mean they were handed a legends number before they had even pulled on a jumper.

What’s wrong with letting a rookie find his feet and establishing himself before burdening them with the weight of expectation that comes with having a club legends number on your back?

One of them was his uncle, so that’s fair enough, surely.

Would’ve been great to have AD3 & Jayden in (eg) 23 & 32, or 21 & 12.

Mark Riccuito chose #32 because one of his footy idols was Tim Watson…

You can also only choose from what’s available.

36 and 38 aren’t perfect, but they’re harder to distinguish from each other than your options. We want the opposition unsure if they’re facing the left or right-footer.

EDIT: 36 and 33? Club is farked at picking similar-looking numbers.

I dunno, I reckon I can tell the difference between Jayden Davey and Rhett Montgomerie pretty easily.

Struggles to put a sentence together without fumbling each time she presents sport news.

However, she looks pretty, so I’ll allow it.

DJR doesn’t see colour (or much else).

What a brilliant game of football that was. And Goodes both won the game and lost the game, multiple times, for Sydney.

Alwyn’s first choice was 23 in honour of David Myers
