You can watch most AFL games each week (as many times as you like) when overseas by subscribing to the AFL TV - www.watchafl.com.au
I use it all the time when overseas and it gives excellent service.

Anywhere in the world where there is internet, even Komodo Island, there is access to AFL games.

Right, but unless things have changed drastically we won’t be staying there. There is one fishing village on Komodo that l know of, l doubt there is any tourist accommodation and that is how it should be. Komodo and another nearby island Rinca, are part of a national park/refuge for the dragons. Some dragons also existed on the eastern end of Flores, but l don’t know if they have survived or been wiped out by people.

So Watch AFL is the official option:
$24 per week, $44 per month, $229 per year.

If you have Kayo (or a Kayo trial), as mentioned earlier, you need a VPN that actually obscures location. I know ExpressVPN works, and also streams video fast enough not to make it more glitchy than it would be with a direct stream. It also has a 30 day trial.

Private Internet Access VPN, for example, does not work.

To get a good vpn it costs. Your better off paying for watchafl.

Its ridiculous that the one company owns both but doesn’t let you use your subscription on holiday. It should be illegal.

Geoblocking sucks.

I do use it to my advantage at present to get bargain basement YouTube premium prices though.

Unless it’s a one-off trip, and you’re just using a 30 day trial, and you already have Kayo, or can borrow a friend’s login to use just for the few games while away etc. Or in my case, where I already use Kayo, and have access to Express VPN - which has a myriad uses for an IT guy.

People also use VPN’s to, for example, access locally geoblocked Netflix content, as US and UK both have a different set of locally allowed content. There are also a lot of UK & European FTA stations who’s online content can be viewed locally with a good VPN. So there are good uses for a quality VPN for the average person who finds it useful.

Yeah but if you wanna catch a couple of games and not left hanging if kayo block the vpn your better off paying for watchafl.

I mean 44 dollars is not a big bill out of your thousands of dollars spent on an overseas holiday

Abc australia has all the games. Just not on the international iview app. And its pretty ubiquitous thru asia. Ive always found it on hotel TVs.

Just like channel 7 doesn’t have games on 7plus

And yeah agree with you on watchafl

Agreed. And they block many VPNs. However, I think you’ll find that at least Express VPN, and potentially a couple of others have been very effective over a long period of time, at avoiding companies’ attempts to identify and geoblock them. Some services are a lot better at that than others. I’ve used this with Kayo overseas without any issues, as opposed to some other VPN services.

I’m simply trying to provide useful information on what works and doesn’t, for those that decide to go down that path. I’m not here to tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t do, just providing info on what does and doesn’t work. Not all VPNs are created equal.

Id be pretty curious if abc australia made its way onto an internet stream in asia in its entirety in some other manner.

Because they have all the games(just not via their official iview app) thats a logical backdoor around the foxtel monopoly.

Does Kayo telecast all NBA games live or is there some clause in their licensing agreement that restricts them ? Just tried to watch OKC v. Grizzlies and the game isn’t there ?

Don’t get them all apparently. Really ■■■■■■■ annoying throughout the playoffs that’s for sure.

NBA was one of the reasons I signed on last year.

They have very few. From memory only games that ESPN have rights to? Being an OKC fan I found it was about one game a fortnight at best. Useless.

Thanks for the feedback, first chinke in the armour Ted.

By the way, whack five dollarydoos in to a sportsbet account and stream every game free.

Not top notch quality but watchable.

Another away win for OKC, would have been nice to see it.

Having friends over and CBF watching Anzac Day game with ads every goal.

Anyone got decent deals with Kayo? I’m the last I had it for $5-$15 per month due to my mobile plan. But no longer got that offer
