Latest Scams, Viruses, Malware and other nasties

Harsh on Blitz members.

I get exactly the same spam on two of my several email accounts. The only business that has been given those two particular email accounts details is EFC.

Harsh on Oxford commas. I don’t wanna be a NewsCorp proofreader.

Funny you should say that. I am pretty confident my email address commenced getting spam way back when only after I used it for my EFC membership.

Hey, footy club do go to extreme lengths to subsidise their revenue streams. I don’t imagine EFC are any different…

Mine predominantly comprise ****@suncorp.com.au, I’d like to ban all suncorp addresses but my filter can only do them one by one.

Just had my phone number spoofed for a scam. Such a bloody annoying thing. Had to change my number and now have to go through every important contact and update a phone number I’ve had for over 20 years.

is that where the scammers use your number ID to spam call others?

Yep. I had half a dozen people call me offloading about a call that their internet was being cut off unless they paid an outstanding amount and that Telstra would be back in touch with them shortly.

that happened to me a few months ago- 2 or 3 calls from strangers saying they’d just missed a call from me and I hadn’t called anyone. The scammers must’ve started using a different number because it hasn’t happened since. :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

Blitz member? What give’s you that idea?

I should have been more specific and mentioned you by name. Absolute disgrace that you get an honours degree at uni and don’t know basic grammar…such as, what is the infinitive form of a verb.

That happened to me, but I didn’t have to change my phone number. I found out because someone called me at about 4am one morning and asked what I had been calling about. Obviously I hadn’t called anyone. It turned out my number had been spoofed.

Telstra said there was something they could do to prevent it happening again and they would do it for a couple of months. I asked why not permanently and for everyone, but couldn’t get an answer.

That’s infuriating. Telstra said there’s nothing they can do.

Perhaps I’m more charming than you.

Wow. Today must be my lucky day. I just got a text saying I got a deposit of $726,000 worth of bitcoin into my account. What’s even luckier is I didn’t even have a bitcoin account.
