OK. Whatâs the story with this ploy?
A phone call. Itâs ostensibly from an Australian number.
You answer. No response. Then they hang up. Call lasts 6 seconds
Afterwards, for a couple of seconds, the phone displays the call was from the Phillipines, But then autocorrects back to an Australian number. WTF???
Is this some scam that Phillipinos are getting even a few cents every time someone answers their phone? How else would it work?
Itâs designed to get you to call back the number, they then get money for however long you stay on the call before you hang up.

Have had a raft of calls to my landline today.
Said they are calling from the Visa & Mastercard security centre, ebay security, NBN, etc
I now string them along for a minute after which I get bored and tell them far cough

He sounded just like Sandeep Patel though.

just had a freind on messenger message me this. anyone heard of something like this? the scammer has somehow talking to me through Facebook messenger as my friend. the screenshot of the transaction looks real and his and my account details are all correct. i rang him straight away
he has rang his bank. he is minus 1300.
Call your bank immediately.
