Left Essendon - Alex Morgan

Didn’t get a full pre-season

Crow seems like a great HP manager. He doesn't just wait till problems occur, he identifies them early and works on correcting them for the future.

Better to have a 4-5 weeks of preventative training than ping 3 hamstrings and loose the whole season.

Can’t remember the last time we had an injury list so small.

This is very true. This would have to be the smallest injury list for this time of the year in a very long time. We have always had a shocking run with injuries and it really crippled us from mid season on last season.

I remember when Dempsey first came on the scene. For years we just could not get him on the park. When he got a game he would twang a hamstring anytime he hit full pace.

I do remember Dempsey had an extreme change of pace back then, I think that didn’t help. He seems to pull back a bit on accelerating these days, and builds up to top pace.

Hopefully Morgan can sort it out.

There is zero rush with “Mad Dog”, Crowy taking the long term approach is very prudent I reckon.

Sack Crow

When he gets together with his family, can they be described as a murder of Crows?

This is Russell Crowe, that’s Cameron Crowe, and this is Gregory Peck…

You want the Wizard, or the Skull?

For the love of god why would you say this out loud?!

No good trying to turn on the afterburners if you pop a hammy . Good move .

Agree fully Nocturnal. Until ( if) we get a cluster of soft tissue injuries again, he is looking very good.

On another matter. Notice that Crowe is now the face of the Injury report. Much as we love Doc Reid, there comes time to hand over to the younger blokes. Lou Richards , Rex Hunt come to mind as others who maybe stayed a little too long in the TV spotlight.

Is it crowe’s direction, or worsforld, or moreso a better combination of both ?

I’d go with a better combo of both.

Cos i remember last year players being well underdone coming back into the seniors last year. Now again i wouldn’t balme crowe solely for that, so i wouldn’t praise him solely for this year either.

Seems to be an emphasis all round, on both fitness and discipline. Guess they want to get the guys right in both areas this year, ahead of actually playing them, which hopefully leads to them being better prepared next year and beyond.

Sucks in the short term cos i wanna see how francis and yesty would go in the senior, but it’s also a refreshing change to see they aren’t being rushed into the seniors underdone in both the above areas.

Murder of crows?

There’s probably a Phil Walsh joke in there somewhere but I’m not gonna make it…

See, I thought A Feast For Crows, but I didn’t say it.
You’re welcome.

I’d agree with that, I think Woosha is less of a control freak when it comes to some areas, he has Professional opinions who he trust and probably lets them dictate the schedule for players on fitness and injury and then works with what he has. I’m sure he is well across all the plans on the players though. A collaboration rather than either ignoring or sticking his finger in the pie too much.

Also caught up for about 15 mins with Alex last night. Let me know he ripped the hammy of the bone last year. Last 5 weeks really enjoyed program of getting strength in his legs and a much bigger fitness base. Rated Justin Crow quite highly in how he is preparing him. Has been just doing this week on week even though he was over injury about 2-3 weeks ago. Ready to play in VFL this week and feels the best he has for a long time. Seemed like he was itching to get out there with confidence in his body. Look forward to seeing how he goes. Likely will play half back to break the lines and sometimes play on the wing.

thats exciting, cheers scoots.

Pumped to see this guy play. Coaches were speaking very highly of him in preseason.

Is he actually playing VFL this weekend then?
Or he just feels he’s ready to? That’s awesome news if he is. Wasn’t expecting him back for a couple of weeks at least.
Did you hear any updates on Francis?
